Ok, so I’ve been coming to L&L in San Diego for decades. This was our first time to the Santa Cruz location and it was by far, the worst I’ve ever experienced. Most important was the hygiene of the cook and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The bathroom was DISGUSTING some kind of mucus shit on the toilet seat. Walls covered in graffiti and not the artsy type of graffiti just random tags that were never covered up. Sink in terrible condition. I have no clue how these guys pass health inspections. While we’re eating, the cook went into the bathroom just to cough up some mucus loud as hell and came right back out. Did not wash his hands! Just plain nasty. Now with that said, I could witness all of this but if the food was good I would be honest and say it. The food was bland. Think the meat is not marinated nearly long enough. Bland. My party and I did not feel great after eating there. Hours later we all were gassy and nauseous. It’s been well over a week and none of us got food blown food poisoning so that’s good. I consider us LUCKY by any measure.
As for the cashier/front of house staff, the guy who took our order was super friendly and professional. And the tables and dining space, obviously not to include the bathroom, was in ok shape.
This experience was so poor overall that I’ve been completely turned the hell off of eating L&L.
All I can ask of mgmt is to do better....

I asked the cashier about it, and he went to the back probably to ask his boss about it. The manager/boss comes out and he fuggin rips down the posters right in front of all of us. He was also saying something angrily, but I can't understand him unfortunately, all while glaring at my partner and I. RIP, no free musubis then, I just thought it was a little unprofessional the way that guy came out all triggered. Why put the signs up then? I UNDERSTAND that it said "Only at participating stores", but foo' if you got the posters up then it's safe to assume you're doing it, right??Like I get it, make that dough, but don't get mad at your customers, bro.
