A friend of ours told us that Bella Roma was much improved after the last time they changed hands, and we finally got around to giving it a try. I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could, but I'm afraid I have to round it down.
The pizza itself was three stars ('it's okay") -- it wasn't phenomenal, but it was at least pretty good. However, it seemed like they were skimpy on the toppings, especially the cheese; while it's not unusual for our kids not to eat the crust, there was a large zone next to the crust that only had sauce, which our kids also wouldn't eat. It seemed quite overpriced for what we got.
What drives the rating down, though, was the ordering experience. We tried it because the coupon bundle we'd received in the mail the day before had coupons for Bella Roma, and we decided to go for the "2 large, 2-topping pizzas for $29.99", and planned to do half-and-half on them (half with cheese only, and 2 different toppings on each of the other halves). When I called, I was told that there was no such deal. When I said I was looking right at the coupon sheet that just came in the mail, he said that they must have misprinted it, and they wouldn't honor it.
He then told me (not asked, told) that I should use the better deal -- one cheese pizza, and one supreme (or up to 4 toppings) for $28.99. Well, that's not really the same, is it? I want at most two toppings on each half, not 4 toppings anywhere.
But I went along with it, and had him add two toppings to half of the cheese (for more, of course). Then when I told him what I wanted on the halves of the other pizza, he told me (with attitude) that their computer wouldn't let him do halves. Seriously? Yeah, try it on their website -- they can do half-and-half pizzas, but not as part of the special. Fine, give me the same two toppings on the whole thing. If I'd known how skimpy they'd be on the cheese, I would have added extra cheese -- oh, wait, they don't offer it.
We went ahead with it because the kids were hungry and crazy, and because we were expecting great pizza. I wish I'd listened to my gut, which was telling me to be put off by the attitude I was getting on the phone. After being told brusquely that I couldn't get what I wanted (which didn't seem unreasonable), I ended up with mediocre pizza. Not bad enough to drop it to one star, but we won't...
Read moreTheir pizza is really good and I've ordered from them 1 time before and that was only for cheese just to try them out.
For this particular experience was different for me since I'm not quite sure how they're pizzas are made. Under the pizza where it says "special instructions," I requested "No tomatoes," and still got tomatoes on my pizza. I understand if the pizzas are pre-made and they can't do anything about that, but if they add the toppings on themselves, then they should be aware of when special requests are made and not add tomatoes when a customer requests none. In my opinion, I feel like there should be a customizable function for customers who want to edit their orders, but there's no feature for that. And I don't know if my pizza was actually deep dish or not since it looked like a normal pizza to me where I thought all deep dish pizzas were like a rectangular shape.
I also added Mug Rootbeer where I don't mind this brand either, but realized that I got A&W instead where it made me think that they could be sold out of Mug Rootbeer which is understandable. But if they were actually sold out of Mug Rootbeer, then that should have been specified. Idk if they've ever had Mug Rootbeer, but if they haven't, then their website needs to be updated. I totally understand that most likely the staff who work at the store has no control over the website, but for the website: please advertise what you actually have in store. I gave it 4 stars because their pizza is still delicious nonetheless despite this...
Read moreFirst time ever coming here - ordered a large half margarita and half chicken alfredo pizza . The pizza took way way way too long to get prepared, about 20-30 minutes. After the long wait we received the pizza and saw that it has pesto on the margarita side. I, and most of my family, are deathly allergic to nuts, one of the main ingredients of pesto is pine nuts... we asked if there was anything the staff at Bella Roma’s (mainly the heavyset guy working the front) and very very very rudely he said “well you should’ve read the menu” then he closed the door on us. No where on the menu, as far as I can see said that pesto would come with the margarita. Yes, I should’ve notified that we were allergic to nuts but I’ve never had a margarita pizza, or rather any pizza, with pesto before, and being this rude definitely was not the right the best way to deal with the situation. AS FOR THE PIZZA (the chicken Alfredo half had no pesto) - a solid 4.5/10, leaves a lot to be desired, feels soggy and undercooked, and an overload of grease. The first and the last time I will ever be here, I wanted to support a small business but honestly just go to papa Johns instead haha. They’re not rude, they have good customer service, and they have good pizza, unlike...
