Homemade Kitchen — Restaurant in Livingston

We won’t ever be back, we were met at the door at 5:45 and told there was no more room, but there were empty tables everywhere. We were told that there were reservations at 6:30 pm coming in, but they close at 7 pm. We were made to feel un-welcomed. We were told to go try Rib and Chop house, or 49er diner. We could tell we were being lied to as they didn’t want to have to possibly; have to fix dinner for us like the hours suggested. I would say that they only cater to certain crowds. But we’re natives to Livingston and figure this is how they treat the tourists. They’re probably better off if they don’t want to be open to the general public, being closed. The Better Business Bureau should consider not supporting them. We won’t be back ever. The waiter who met us at the door was so rude!!!! Interesting to note after taking their advise and eating at a much better restaurant we pass by Homemade Kitchen on the way home at 6:50 pm and only 3 vehicles were parked outside of the Restaurant, verifying we were lied to about heavy reservations at 6:30 pm. I think it’s relevant that after reading my review you should look for others who had the same experience as us, reviews. We were lied to!!! It would be interesting to know if they pay business taxes on the cash payments they receive ?? We specifically made plans and took cash out of the Bank ATM in order to eat here. Think we’re more angry about being lied to then being refused dinner. They definitely should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for such un-ethical practices, I’m sure they have other one’s they’re hiding as well. Really busy, no masks, food that we ordered was not great. My husband got the special (chicken and dressing). The chicken was stiff and dry, as was the dressing. I got the fried porkchop sandwich. In the menu, it clearly says a deep friend porkchop. It was a pressed frozen pork patty on bread. Dry and tasteless. The sweet potato fries were good and so was the tea. Great place to get a home cooked breakfast! Walked in and was looking for a place to seat ourselves and a local resident smiled and said “sit wherever you like” with a welcoming smile.
