Walk down Pinones The smell of the food is tantalizing. Yet you don't know where to eat because there are so many. We stopped here looking for something specific. The owner, Edguardo Torrens, gave us some information yet suggested we try his chuleken. He gave us an offer we couldn't refuse. So we decided to eat here. This turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made for food since I've moved to the island. The atmosphere in the restaurant brings more elegance than the rest of the places we walked past. It is very welcoming and cozy. Our beautiful waitresses were attentive and helpful. Edguardo is extremely welcoming and makes you feel like you are part of the family. We ordered the chuleken, cod stuffed Mofongo, and chicken with peppers and onions. Edguardo truly sold the chuleken. Telling us that he has a patent on the way he does his pork and showing us his claim. Also that he is the only person in the world with a certification from where he gets his pork from in Chicago. Using 18 different spices and cooked to perfection. His claim was truly on point. The dish stole the show. Coming to the table perfectly cooked with a golden hue and a flavor that makes you forget about talking or even breathing. You just wish for another bite. The Mofongo made perfect sense as the dish to add to the pork. The earthy plantains paired with perfectly cooked small pieces of cod in a red sauce that capitalize on the culinary essence of the island. This stop was truly amazing. It was a pleasure to eat here and to meet the owner. If you are local. Stop here and have a...
Read moreI wish I were exaggerating, but unfortunately, I’m not. My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant after it was recommended following our jet skiing excursion. Regrettably, the food led to the worst case of food poisoning we’ve ever experienced, completely ruining the remainder of our vacation. We even had to seek medical attention at a hospital in Puerto Rico.
While our server did her best, I’m concerned about the cleanliness and food safety standards behind the scenes. To be honest, if you’re visiting from the States, I would strongly advise against dining here. I wouldn’t wish our...
Read moreMy husband and I are on our honeymoon and were told by all of my friends who grew up in Puerto Rico to go to Piñones and try the frituras! We came here right after flying into San Juan and I was grateful this place had reliable parking! The service was very fast and both gentlemen working the fronthouse were very friendly and provided great customer service. Our food was fresh, tasty, and fast and I'm glad we stumbled into this restaurant! PS: I didn't post a pic of the empanadilla but it was as big...
