Empanadas NJ Cafe 53 S. Main St. Lodi, NJ 07644

Egg, Bacon, & Cheese Empanada Beef Chicken Pulled Pork Spinach

Appearance: 8.7/10 Taste: 10/10

Located on South Main Street in Lodi NJ is an Argentinean café that specializes in house made empanadas

Owner Felix introduced me to a variety of the signature product.

There were so many choices, that it was hard to make a decision.

Two Uncut Empanadas: Have a look at the outer shell of these stuffed pastries. It’s a win-win whether you have one as an appetizer or a few as a main course. It’s time to crack open these empanadas and see what’s on the inside!

Egg, Bacon, & Cheese Empanada: Start off the most important meal of the day with the egg, bacon, and cheese breakfast empanada. If you are a morning person, you’ll definitely feel like an early bird that catches the worm!

Beef: This original empanada is packed with meat, onions, and bell peppers. There’s also a hint of hard-boiled egg , which adds an extra layer of savory flavor.

Chicken: If you are a fan of Halal chicken, then this style is a must try!

Pulled Pork: I’m not pulling your leg when I say the pulled pork was divine. The protein was roasted in the oven and smothered in house made barbecue sauce.

Spinach: If you aren’t in a carnivorous mood and are desiring some veggies, then try the spinach empanada. I can virtually guarantee that if Popeye were to explore this vegetarian empanada, he will ditch his can of spinach in a heartbeat.

It was a pleasure visiting this café and I’m looking forward to trying their other menu items.

The creation of the empanada predates the Spanish empire even though the word empanada comes from the Spanish word ‘empanar,’ meaning “to cover in pastry with dough.” They are popular in countries all around the world, and the filling options are just as varied. Enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, served as an appetizer or main dish.

Opened just two years ago in a little strip mall consisting of 2 stores off S Main St in Lodi, I came to Empanadas NJ Cafe as a first-timer for lunch. Upon entering this cozy shop with 3 tables for dining, I was greeted by the staff at his family-owned/family-run establishment specializing in Argentinian empanadas. These, put simply, are savory baked hand-held pastries.

A large selection menu featured everything from Beef, Chicken, Ham & Cheese to Apple Pie, Hawaiian, and Guava & Cheese. One can't go wrong with any of the options.

After speaking with Lucas, the owners’ son, he recommended their popular Beef, Chicken, and Cuban Empanadas.

They arrived hot. Each empanada was identified with the initials on the left side border. The shells were not greasy. They were packed full with the flavorful fillings with the accompanied Chimichurri sauce and were delicious. The price was comparable to the area. The staff was friendly and helpful; the service was fast.

They’ve gotten so popular that a second location has been announced in Boonton. It was worth every minute, which I...

If you're an empanada lover, this place is an absolute must-visit! They offer a wide range of varieties to suit every taste, from creative fusion flavors to traditional classics. While I appreciate the adventurous options, my personal favorite remains the original chicken or beef empanadas. They're perfectly seasoned, with a crispy, golden crust that brings back that authentic, comforting taste.

The empanadas are always served fresh and piping hot, and the service is impressively quick—ideal for those on the go or craving a quick bite. What truly sets this place apart is the staff. They're warm, welcoming, and create a pleasant atmosphere that makes you want to come back for more.

Whether you're a purist like me or enjoy exploring unique flavors, this empanada shop strikes the perfect balance....

This little mom-and-pop empanada shop just opened in Lodi and it’s so worth the trip best empanadas I’ve had in years I tried four different flavors, including pepperoni and cheese, beef, chicken, and pulled pork. The chicken had amazing flavor, and my favorite was the pulled pork not overly spicedjust the perfect amount of flavor owner. Super nice give this mom and Pop shop a chance you won’t be sorry
