Wow! What more can I say.....well, I'll tell you... this newly refurbished Japanese restaurant has a very comfortable updated feel. We were welcomed by the staff with smiles all around. Two fantastic "Benny" Mai Tais (if you know, you know) were delivered to our table in 3 minutes, and delicious! My wife and I love a good Mai Tai, and have enjoyed them in many establishments, all a little different in flavor and alcohol level, MIZU has the best, without question, PERIOD! You can tell where my priorities lie...
We then ordered some Sushi. Not only was it delivered to our table in a very short amount of time, it was clearly created by an artist. Beautiful to look at, and equally as tasty. So Fresh, so cool and clean and unique. What more can you ask for with sushi? We then followed up with some appetizers, and a Hibachi combo. You can tell quality is the chef's priority. Portion size was just enough (and I like to eat...) and the flavors were comforting with a slight uniqueness that improved the experience even further.
The staff (and owners) were very friendly, and checked on us often to make sure everything was to our liking. As new owners, they had such enthusiasm and eagerness to make sure everything was what we expected or better and were willing to make it that way. They truly want their patrons to be happy, satisfied, and wanting to come back again.
As a patron of the previous "Jay House" we weren't sure what Mizu was going to be. It is a Japanese restaurant through and through. No typical Pu Pu platters, no bright pink pork ribs, just really good Japanese cuisine and very fresh, very inventive sushi!
We will be back!...
Read moreI've been to Mizu on a number of occasions and the food is always good. However, I went there most recently New Year's Eve and now I'll never be back. I made a reservation ahead of time via Google, which the restaurant accepted. When I arrived with my party of 4 (including 2 small kids), they had no tables available despite having secured the reservation. We decided to wait and were seated pretty quickly. We ordered food and got salad /soup pretty quickly and then proceeded to wait...and wait ...and wait....and WAIT. HOURS went by without any food. The server could not give us a timeframe for service and just kept apologizing. Everyone there was kind, but the wait time was ridiculous and our kids started to get restless (and honestly, all the other tables were in the same situation...patiently waiting and getting more annoyed by the minute). Our early dinner turned into a late night outing by the time we were finally served. Dozens of takeout guests waited in the lobby for food that was maybe/never coming that evening. Mizu totally ruined our NYE and did the same to dozens of others. I understand that they're a small business, but they need to understand their own capacity. Don't keep taking orders you can't fulfill. Prioritize in-house dining to takeout orders like every other restaurant. Simply let callers know you're full for the day and focus on the guests you have. They prioritized profit over guest experience and service and that's inexcusable. At the very least, they should have majorly discounted all of those guests orders. I hope they learn some improved business practices so the same experience doesn't...
Read moreFirst time into this lovely little restaurant.
I had a fantastic experience. The entire staff working was so nice, polite, and friendly. They were attentive but also gave you your space and privacy. I never was in need of anything for the hour or so I was there. They made sure any questions were answered and my glass never empty unless by choice.
The food was delicious. Truly fantastic. I ordered Gyoza as a starter with a water and a Zombie. The drink was refreshing, packed a punch, but didn’t overwhelm you. Delicate balance. The Gyoza was awesome. Had great flavor and was cooked well. The dumplings tasted fresh and as if they were prepared with care and love.
For dinner, I ordered the Katsu Salmon. The salmon cuts themselves were incredible. They tasted fresh and well prepared. The breading was light, crisp, and had a great complimentary flavor. The sauce to pair was a great combination as well. Rice was perfect. Far from soggy or overdone. Had a great texture and was easy to eat with chopsticks.
Definitely an experience I will be coming back for again. No hesitations in writing a review or recommending to a friend. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
Thank you so much...
