live in town and wanted to check out this place during the week, off hours when less crowded. There are 4 points of this review which in my opinion are fair: Decor: Well thought out not too many nick/nacks definitely a pub/ bar, not for families with little kids for night time. Kudos to the owners they did a good job with floor arrangements. 4 stars
Service: Bartender was attentive and friendly, food was delivered promptly. the crowd was pleasant, actually talked to other customers. 4 stars
Food: Burgers where well presented, tasty, very reasonably priced. The french fries where bland in taste, I would suggest the owners find a new food vendor where the taste is similar to 99's or 5 guys. If I visit again I would ask for a french fry substitute. In general the food was good . 3 stars
Beers: They have a very good selection of beer, cocktails and wine, not fan of IPA's but have a wide selection to chose from. Okay there is where I give a ding .. PRiCE. IMO, the price for a beer is way to expensive; a draft 16 oz Sam Adams is $6 while others run close to $7-10 per a 16 oz draft depending on the brand. In the economics; the cost of the burgers are far less than the beers. In these great good times they get those price, but in the next recession, I doubt it, because of competition. 2 Stars Questionable if I would return due to...
Read moreAt the time of this review, Renegades North has only been open for a few days. Like nearly all new restaurants they'll take a few weeks to find their rhythm. I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 in anticipation that the grand opening jitters will go away soon and they will be a good, fun local gathering spot.
Service was a scattered and chaotic, but as I said, I expect it will get better. The menu is interesting - basic bar food and burgers but with some interesting novelty. An expansive beer list, a moderate wine list and a bunch of whiskies and bourbons round out the bar menu. The cocktails are the basic, favorites: manhattans, martinis,, old fashioneds, margaritas, etc. - although the drinks are a bit small for the price. The beer and wine seem to be priced reasonably. Food quality was very good despite the chaos. The atmosphere is lively - somewhere between sports bar and a local's tavern. The piped in rock and roll, although a good mix, was a bit loud - they need better sound absorption - the background noise plus the music makes conversation difficult. I'm hoping this place does well, I expect that the growing pains will be over soon and the problems will even out. I will definitely be back and hope to make Renegades a regular spot in...
Read moreI love this place. Soo many beers on tap, and the food is amazing.
The food is definitely unique when it comes to bar food. It's as if each item was hand picked, and it works. Get the Bennington burger.
It's a mess of a sandwich, with chorizo, a fried egg, and a bunch more. Soooo good.
Always a great time and will be back!
Update! 2/13/23 it's still that good. Pulled pork tacos are amazing!
Update! 7/31/2023. It's amazing when a familiar place consistently delivers new things that just are instant home runs.
Don't sleep on the specials here! The crab rangoons are the best I have ever had and will hopefully be a regular special and not just a one off.
The lasagna sandwich is also just incredible. Whom ever is in charge of the specials is a madman and I love it!
Also, Taco Tuesday is awesome with the carne asada tacos...
