Greetings peninsula folks and beyond and cheers from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! The weekend is upon us and the weather has been having some serious issues on deciding what to do... but I knew exactly what I wanted for lunch today. See, I've been hearing about the new kitchen addition over at North Jetty Brewing and since I know already know they've got some of the best hand crafted beers around here, I simply had to head down there to check it out.

This place really does have such a great atmosphere and the staff are some of the friendliest around... so the food is just another reason to go hang out there. I took my wife out for a date lunch hoping they'd have a few items we both could share... and they didn't disappoint! The menu is simple but with great options. 9 different paninis (chips are available as a side), salads hummus, sausage and pretzel shareables, there really is something for just about everyone to nosh.

We grabbed the cubano panini and the jetty cristo panini to share. The Jetty Cristo was a great spin on a traditional sandwich. Turkey, ham and swiss cheese with mayo and dijon mustard on a couple thick slices of Texas toast and a side of raspberry preserves to dip it in...oh my. Like I said, a great spin on the traditional sammy which has a light, fluffy texture from the egg coating but instead here you've got a great crispy outer texture that provides that crunch but with all the familiar flavors. A light sprinkle of powdered sugar rounds out this fabulous panini.

Then there was the cubano. Yeah, stacked. Loaded up with carnitas and layered with sliced honey ham and swiss cheese along with a bit of yellow mustard and sliced pickles, again on Texas toast. I grabbed a side of their sweet and spicy mustard to dip it in and oh emm doublegee was it fabulous. I didn't even get my first picture in before someone... grabbed the first bite! Great stuff right there. We'll be back many, many times I'm sure. The beer was enough to keep me coming in but now the added food is even harder to resist.

By the way, today I started with my personal favorite beer, the North Jetty Ecto-3 but finished with their Brut & Jetty Went to Belgium... fabulous! It's a golden ale barrel aged in wine barrels... super crisp and super clean... very refreshing!

So the next time you're passing through Seaview, if you're looking for a great place to grab a great beer or craft cocktail and some great grub, pop in to North Jetty Brewing and check it out. If ya do, tell em the foodie sent ya!

Until next time, cheers and beach appetit from your friendly neighborhood peninsula...

Really wanted to like this place. The beer was good, but the customer service was awful. Not a place to social distance.

EDIT: In response to the owner's request for more info. We were there on September 6th. We got drinks and wanted to sit outside but there wasn't a spot. We thought we could wait outside in the meantime but a staff member came out and mumbled that we couldn't be out there and directed us to a table inside. When we asked for clarity, he mumbled more and walked away. I did not want to drink in doors, so we tried to snatch a table on the patio as people left. We waited for the table to be disinfected and were about to sit down when we were told we couldn't sit there, other people wanted that spot. It didn't make sense, as there wasn't much of a system and everything appeared to be first come first serve. Other breweries we've recently attended had a staff member at the door to explain protocol and were pleasant. Staff here were curt and I couldn't help but have a bad taste in my mouth after we were told we couldn't have the outdoor spot, even though we were there first. Overall, if you're looking for a safe spot here outdoors, look for a table first. This wasn't clear for us as we aren't from the area. I'd just get their beer at the stores nearby and avoid the brewery. Really left a bad taste...

This is not a friendly place to take your family. We went in to have lunch and try the beer with our newborn and 2 year old. Not our best parenting hack but planned to have a show quietly on the phone. Not a single other person in the place and were told you can’t have any volume on the phone. We got told to sit out front by the busy road. Not a safe option for our family. Sad we had to leave due to not a friendly atmosphere for families.

In response to owners reply:

We 100 percent did take our business elsewhere. You do not know our child’s individual needs and we hadn’t event gotten settled in. We would never want to disturb someone else have always monitored our volume. However we were in an empty establishment trying to get settled. As for calling us entitled I think your response speaks for its self. This establishment is not family friendly.

Also now curious if you would said something had an adult been watching a TikTok or sports game on their phone. Doesn’t matter either way my review reflects our experience and for us...

8/3/2018 3:30p Exceptional brew pub located in the Long Beach area. Our group of 5 had taster flights covering the majority of the offering. We were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the brews and tastes. 4/5 brews were great. To put that number in perspective, we are usually consider a brew pub lucky if it hits on 1-2/5. The atmosphere was quaint, cozy, and friendly. My only knock on North Jetty was the size of the seating area. They need more space. Highly recommended!
