I recently visited and was surprised by their strict no-modification policy on house burgers. All I wanted was to remove onions—nothing extra, just no onions—and they refused.
The owner claims this policy exists for efficiency and consistency, yet: They allow customers to add ingredients but not remove them, which contradicts the efficiency argument.
They allow modifications for allergies, proving they can make changes when they choose to.
Their concern about "every burger being customized" is exaggerated—not every customer would request changes, just like at any other restaurant.
Food waste still happens, since customers have to pick off ingredients they don’t want instead of them simply being left off in the kitchen.
After a back-and-forth discussion with the owner, it became clear that this is not about efficiency—it’s just an inflexible rule they refuse to change. I was even told that their staff should be "retrained" if they express disagreement, despite the fact that customers complain about this policy regularly.
I am not changing or removing this review. I’ve rewritten it only to make it easier for future customers to follow, as the previous responses made it difficult to read. If you care about customer service and a restaurant that listens to feedback, this may not be the place for you.
That said, I want to be clear that the waitresses were awesome—they were friendly, helpful, and did a great job. My issue is not with them but with a policy that puts them in a frustrating position. I also don’t want this restaurant to fail. Long Beach could use a great burger spot, and I hope they succeed. I just think a more flexible approach would make them...
Read moreOur family (all 6) decided on having burgers for dinner. Unfortunately, our first selection turned out to be a dive bar that did not allow anyone under the age of 21 to enter. Sometimes Google reviews can be a bit misleading by not having critical information.
No problem. We just redirected our search for a great burger elsewhere. We fortunately landed on Camphouse Burgers in Long Beach. Having never driven through Long Beach, we were impressed by the downtown area, reminiscent of old towns from years gone by. Waze directed us perfectly to the restaurant.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a nice lady behind the bar who ended up being our server and cashier. Camphouse is a small, neatly maintained building that reminded me of an old corner cafe. It brought back many memories.
Most adults decided on the All American burger while I and the kids chose the "build your own" burger. I customized my double burger by adding cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and All American sauce. A side of fries rounded out my order.
It's hard to find burgers like Camphouse makes. Their burgers are like those you used to find in diners or corner drug stores back in the 60's and 70's. Camphouse Burgers are not what you'd get at a fast-food joint. There's more flavor in those flat top burgers than mass produced offerings. The fries were awesome too.
Service was top-notch, the atmosphere quaint and the entire setting was nostalgic. I highly recommend Camphouse in Long Beach. We had a wonderful...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Camphouse Burger Bar, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish!
The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a great meal with friends or family. The menu is packed with mouthwatering burger options, and I decided to go with their signature Camphouse Burger—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was a delight, and the fresh ingredients truly stood out.
What made the experience even more memorable was the exceptional service from our server, Nickole. From the moment we were seated, she was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive. She took the time to make sure our orders were just right, offered fantastic recommendations, and checked in often without being intrusive. Her positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm made our visit even more enjoyable.
