We love Kyoto Steakhouse, we've dined there seven times in the last two years and we plan to go back for more because the food and the service have been outstanding every time ...until last night. Everybody has a bad night now & then and we hope that's all it was. This review is written to encourage you guys to tighten up the few missteps.
DISCLAIMER: You were hosting a medium size party in your banquet room. We understand that this can put a strain on your resources.
Categorically, about four things went sideways.
First, before heading in, I reviewed your menu online and decided to make a meal out of appetizers and premium cold sake. Upon arrival, I noticed that the menu had been updated and two of the three appetizers I wanted had been removed; Beef Negimaki and the Fried Scallops. I also noticed that the prices were raised slightly, which is perfectly understandable. Nonetheless, I requested the three appetizers that I wanted and the kitchen declined to make the two discontinued items. In fact, there are NO beef appetizers available on the updated menu. Basically, you guys should keep your online menu updated so that you don't disappoint your customers. Also, I recommend that you NOT put prices in your online static menu unless you update it every time you change a price.
Next issue; premium sake - the Sho Chiku Bai Premium Ginjo ...you were out of it! No excuse for that, somebody didn't stock enough of it. I don't know any other place in town that we can get this, so very disappointed.
Third issue; the Tako Yaki, which I ordered as a substitute for the discontinued items - we love this dish, we've had it in Osaka and you've made it right for us in previous visits. But last night, it was undercooked. Nobody likes to eat raw batter. I ate two out of eight pieces and stopped.
Fourth issue; our server was obviously a new employee. He was pleasant, we liked him, but he made a few missteps. The worst misstep was being informed that the Tako Yaki was inedible and NOT inquiring of us if we would like the kitchen to remake it, or to remove it from the bill. Hmm. Also missed removing ravaged plates from the table as he walked by empty-handed, and should've checked on us once or twice more. Seemed like a sharp young man, so he'll probable learn the nuance of this.
The rest of the food and service were great, as...
Read moreWe went tonight 10/23/2017 Monday night, our waiter was very rude no smiles no nothing. He took forever to get our drinks and came back wrong, I ordered a frozen margaritas which was liquid and full of chucks of ice, I asked for salt around the rim but he put sugar, my daughter order a virgins Shirley temple and they just gave her 7 up. We sat at a table of 9 and the soup we asked for miso soup instead of the onion soup was told no but the table beside us got the miso soup and I even offered to pay for it. Salad and soup came out and it was the onion soup, the table beside us had the same amount of ppl has our table, their cook was there before ours and he was still there after ours. Our cook seemed very rushed, he was so fast that the chicken was chewy and so was the shrimp. We ordered extra fried rice and was given none but charged for it. The 2 very pretty young ladies at the end of our table got all the extra of everything and we got very little of anything my husband got 1 piece of broccoli and 4 pieces of carrots and no zucchini and no onions. I asked for no sauce on my shrimp and yet the cook did not listen. We ended up w sauce on the shrimp. I ordered chicken and so did my daughter and husband. The beautiful 2 girls got extra of everything. Our waiter was no where to be found I had to go to the counter to get refills on our drinks. Once the cook was done and before we could eat the little bit of food we got here came our waiter to pass out checks. I was like he just finished 2 seconds ago and where were u to fill drinks. I love restaurants like these I been to so many and I know this place is new but they have alot to learn on customer service. I told my husband we will try it again 1 more time btw for 3 people we...
Read moreSo tonight my husband decided to take me out for a nice dinner at Kyoto. We get there the drinks are good. The sushi is good and then I asked if I could have my rice with no egg because I have an egg allergy. I thought I understood correctly when they told me that the rice would have to come from the kitchen and everything else could be cooked on the grill. Unfortunately, that is not how it happened they brought out a full meal before anybody else even had their food, which ( by the way, I do apologize to the couple at the table with us ) we offered to go sit in the dining room and get our food that way since that’s the way it seemed it was going, but the couple at the table asked why can’t we just stay there with them ( good question) The guy at the grill had gone back to get the food to make it right and was in the process of doing so when my husband went to speak with the owner. He informed him that it was not OK what he was doing and that they have done that request before by leaving the egg off the rice the owner got very defensive and confrontational. My husband decided to leave the building ans asked me to pay in the outside I tried to pay, but was told there was no need, and while all this was going on, the owner was still yelling at me about my husband. when I try to speak to him politely, he said no I cannot say anything, and continue to yell at me, so I I collected our stuff and was getting ready to leave. The owner came over to me and started screaming at me in front of all the customers as well as yelling at his employees, and continue to do so, as I was walking out the door
So if you have any special requests or dietary restrictions, I do not recommend going here because they will treat you...
