My first experience here was last night at 8pm. To be transparent, I love Kpot and wanted to compare the bbq here to them. It was completely empty when we came in and throughout our meal one family came in, that's it. Upon seating we were informed the bbq stops at 8:00 and they have the same plates available for order, they just cook it for you. No problem. The food here is pretty good, and I'd like to note that the portions were big for the price. However, KPot would never close down their self serve bbq service, its all they do and I understand its just a different restaurant, again no problem. There were two waitresses, each or which since 8:00 would constantly and consistently stand over our table and just stare awkwardly at least once every five minutes, occasionally asking if we needed anything to the point that we were clearly being rushed and couldn't have a normal conversation without one of the ladies hovering over us. I asked one of them with the shortest bob cut if they close at ten like their sign states and she said yes we close at ten. This was at 9. Immediately the other waitress came over and asked, mid meal, literally most of the meal was still on the table, and asked how many boxes we needed. We never asked for boxes, and I asked what the rush was. She stated they close the kitchen at 9 and close at 9:30. In front of her i asked the previous bob cut lady if I didn't just ask her if they close at ten and again she said yes. I'm unsure if there's simply a language barrier or if they really didn't care, but it was obvious they wanted us out immediately. Turns out both waitresses zoomed out via cars at 9:20pm. When the door clearly states they are open until 10:00. It is clear they had other priorities last night. My friend and I have never been rushed out like this from any establishment, especially not an otherwise empty one. I can completely understand why they have such slow business and can guarantee I will not be returning. In fact, I am going out of my way to tell all friends and loved ones to avoid this...
Read moreI enjoyed everything I had as the food there is prepared in the traditional Korean way. We had bibimbap in the black pot, Japchae in the straw dish, and in the silver pot, tteokbokki. Absolutely umami in the most satisfying way, and so flavorful without adding tons of salt and butter or oil. So much flavor with chili sauce aka gochujang or "Korean ketchup" as it is sometimes called.
Tteokbokki (떡볶이), or simmered rice cake, is a popular Korean food made from small-sized garae-tteok (long, white, cylinder-shaped rice cakes) called tteokmyeon (떡면; "rice cake noodles") or commonly tteokbokki-tteok (떡볶이 떡; "tteokbokki rice cakes").1 Eomuk (fish cakes), boiled eggs, and scallions are some common ingredients paired with tteokbokki in dishes. It can be seasoned with either spicy gochujang (chili paste) or non-spicy ganjang (soy sauce)-based sauce.
Japchae (잡채; 雜菜) is a savory and slightly sweet dish of stir-fried glass noodles and vegetables that is popular in Korean cuisine.1] Japchae is typically prepared with dangmyeon (당면, 唐麵), a type of cellophane noodles made from sweet potato starch; the noodles are mixed with assorted vegetables, meat, and mushrooms, and seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil.[24
The term bibim means "mixing" and bap is cooked rice. It is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed or blanched seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). Egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions, stirred together thoroughly just before eating.[3]
In South Korea, Jeonju, Jinju, and Tongyeong are especially famous for their versions of bibimbap.[4] In 2011, the dish was listed at number 40 on the World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll compiled by CNN Travel.[5]
Everything was delicious. Service very attentive. Atmosphere was casual and not pretentious. This food is as good as any fine dining establishment in terms of flavor and quality!
You can't go wrong with what we ordered. Be adventurous. Bring your Tums if you are...
Read moreI am a picky eater and I do not like Adventure in my diet. My two friends dragged me to Korea House I did not want to go and I complained about it all day at work before we went.. I was pleasantly surprised. I do not know what I had I can't pronounce any of it. I had a cold soup with noodles It was on the sweet side it was delicious. Then I had a plate of thin sliced beef. It was a little on the sweet side to it was delicious. I also had what my friend called a pancake but it did not resemble any pancake I've ever seen. It looked more like a cross between a pancake and a flatbread It had some kind of seafood on it I could smell it and they give you a red sauce that is slightly spicy but a different spicy from jalapenos not that kind of hot spicy , it's more of a delayed spicy. There were other things in little plates that you just eat one or two bites of. These plates were about 3 inches round. I have to admit because I am picky I refused to eat or try some of those little plates. I probably would have liked them. I give this four stars because as picky as I am I still enjoyed it which was a surprise. I have to warn everyone though. If you go the main meat plates that you order come on a platter large enought to feed three or four people. The meats are priced at 23.99. so if you go go with a group, know that you will all have to agree on the meat. And don't expect anything exotic about the decor. It was not an everyday experience...
