TLDR: Food was not fresh, cleaned properly, seasoned properly, and lacked flavor. Service was bad, slow, and inappropriate. Extremely over priced. The environment was dark and unwelcoming, and dirty. This is probably only my second google review, it was that bad I will not return. If they offered me a gift card to return, I would not use it.
Long version Mark was our server and served us unopen cans of beer expecting us to open them ourselves, except for the women. Called me "big guy" when he dropped my food off. Had no printed versions of the menu and opted to described the dishes to us after making us wait for a very long time, and then another long wait to order after describing them to us. He was working as the only sever at the time, which could be an excuse but does not make my experience any better. He wrote the orders down, which is great, but still did not bring the correct sides we ordered.
When the food came, the appetizers were fine.the potato skins seemed like they were cooked earlier then reheated before serving. The dish I got was a beer battered haddock, it was flimsy with no crisp, and did not seem to be cooked properly. The fries with it tasted like fish. The green beans were not cleaned properly. The asparagus was not seasoned at all. The shrimp tasted as though it was frozen earlier, then cooked in butter with chives thrown on it with no other seasoning. The steak was dry, it was ordered medium and no juice came out at all. It seemed like the veggies were microwaved and lacked all flavor and taste, not even salt or pepper.
He did not charge us for the fish, however the steak alone was close to $30. The quality of steak is no where near this price point. The beers alone were ten dollars each, which would be fine, but they were in cans (tall boys) and he invited members of our party behind the bar to see what he had because he was either too busy or did not know the beer he had.
He also spilled an entire glass of wine and gave a bar rag for us to soak it up. He also didn't remove the bar rag after it. He also did not replace the soiled table cloth. He did not pre-bus the table, being a former service industry worker, I stacked everything to the corner, he eventually took it.
Mark was also not wearing a mask at all. He didn't even wear it as a chin diaper, just no mask at all. Mark was honestly as bad of a server as the food was. Again, this is coming from someone who never leaves reviews and has worked in restaurants for years.
I can tolerate bad service and good food, good service and bad food. But I can not...
Read moreThe menu is very small, the size of the place is very small, the number of staff working is very small; but, the experience is enormous. The menu is small so they can focus on what they do best.
Don't walk into this place expecting your vegan brother/sister in law is going to find a lot that appeals to them, you are there because you don't care about them. They can graze in the empty lot across the street. They love selling cooked meat here.
The entre menu: Beef (the burger) Beef Beef 2 Flatbread choices Pasta (with or without meat/seafood) Seafood
Two choices of sides (like 6 in total), none of them are "fancy", all are delicious.
When it comes to booze, there is a really nice wine list, a decent liquor shelf and, an ok beer selection. Don't expect a martini menu; at the same time, you can ask the bartender/owner for something your speed and he will come up with something that suits your style.
Service was outstanding, the proprietor was behind the bar and was obviously running the show; that dude wants you to remember your experience there.
This place is old school cool and I appreciate that All Nations Clubs are remembered here.
This place isn't cheap, this place definitely isn't fancy; but, this place is...
Read moreI'm from the Lorain area and lived in Austin, Tx the past 6 years so I'm always bragging to my family about the amazing food there. My sister is always talking about this Diso's place and that it's her favorite. Of course I don't believe her that it's "that good!" So I came home a few weeks ago and we went... No joke, 1 of my top 3 all time favorite meals!! Everything was amazing. I loved that each dish was carefully thought out, it's not your typical restaurant where you pick side dishes. They do the entire plate so it all compliments each other. It's a bit pricey but nothing outrageous. Seriously, do yourself a favor and check it out, give yourself plenty of time as they like to take their time and make it more of an evening experience than just grab a quick dinner and head out. (alcohol, apps, main meal and desert for 4 we were there 2 hours) You may also want to call ahead to check how busy it is. It's a pretty small place so you may be waiting awhile....
