The pizza is mediocre at best, but a great memory from my high school days when Yalas, Rosie's and Lusca's were the pizza houses in Lorain. The problem I encountered was terrible customer service, not only terrible but extremely rude. I did not order from Yalas for quite a while since after my husband died, I moved from Oberlin Ave to the east side. Working a job on the west side gave me an opportunity to begin ordering it again. Last evening, Dec 26, I called and placed a order for a large pepperoni pizza and I SPECIFIED YALAS! I have never called any other telephone number in the last year and a half and I have never ordered anything other than a Yalas pepperoni pizza. as their records will reflect. When I picked it up on our way home, I handed it to my son who immediately noticed the box said Eliseo's. We had already paid $15 plus and gave it back to the young girl (who was extremely pleasant) and explained that we had not ordered Eliseo's pizza. In actuality I have never ordered a Eliseo's pizza. She checked the order which for some reason said Eliseos but said she would remake it,apologized, and said she owed us money back. We told her no problem, we would come back in half an hour and she could refund the money then. I had a prescription to pick up which I had not planned on doing since we were hungry and wanted to go home and eat but it was not her fault and we made the best of it. Yalas did not! After a half an hour as we were pulling into the driveway at Yalas, I received a phone call. Assuming we might be a little late, I told the young man I was rounding the corner now....and he proceeded to harangue me about he was the one who took my order and I had not ordered Yalas....and it was my mistake and I needed to pick up this Eliseo's pizza now because that was all I was getting....and I had called on the wrong number. IThe number I called had always asked if I wanted Yalas or Eliseo's....and I always specified, whether they asked or not that I wanted Yalas. I could not believe my ears....first of all that whoever is in charge of customer service would let an employee speak to a customer in that manner....and secondly that they would WAIT A HALF AN HOUR TO CALL AND TELL ME TO PICK UP A PIZZA THAT WAS NOW A HALF AN HOUR OLD AND COLD. I could understand if when we were at the window, the young lady had said, I am sorry, I can't refund your money or change the order, I am not allowed......but she did not. In all of this, she was the only one most courteous and polite.....Mike whoever he is has the manners of a cretin and I shudder to think that if our children conduct themselves in that manner already, can you imagine our future as senior citizens if we are left at the mercy of the Mike's of the world. It must be nice to be infallible. My son called back because he knew the manager, Kenny, who incidently refused to come to the phone to rectify things but was listening to the entire conversation and said so. They refused to remake my order, refused to refund my money and insisted that I must take this pizza that was their error and that they compounded by not notifying me for a half an hour. What do you suppose that pizza would taste like? Here was another instance of total incompetence! If the owner is still Pete's nephew, I am sure his Uncle did not teach him to run a business in that manner nor to hire employees who did. Return business and word of mouth are important....they will not receive my business again ever and it is my hope that others who have suffered such indignities will come forward and let the people of Lorain know as well. The only way you can change people so steeped in stupidity it to make a point of hitting them where it hurts....in the pocketbook.....and we all know where Kenny and Mike would carry their "pocketbooks"....lol......a most...
Read moreI called on a Friday night to complain about a pizza that we ordered which was burnt and cold. We were refused a refund and offered a store credit instead. Apparently, the manager who was informed about the incident (I only talked to an employee that night as the manager refused to get on the phone), did not record my complaint in the books on 8/16/19 so when I called back on 8/18 to order a pizza for my son , who has been having trouble eating, no manager would honor that promise. I spoke to one manager over the phone and I had to nearly beg to speak with her and she was very rude with a careless and unapologetic tone when she did finally get on the phone. I overheard her telling Ken, the store manager, that she remembered the incident on Friday, but she was unsure of how it was resolved. ONLY AFTER, I told them that I was going to inform people and certain establishments around Lorain about their service, did Ken offer me a $7 credit for a pizza that I paid $14.50 for! I then explained that I had bank records of paying $14.50 for the pizza along with pictures of how terribly it was made and asked why they were refusing to keep their word.... Ken, told me that he was “being generous” by offering a $7 credit... after I persisted he told me that he could not offer a full credit because we didn’t “return the pizza” BUT we were NEVER asked to!!! They basically held their unprofessionalism against me!
Even if they had asked me to return the pizza, I have a son with autism and I cannot just take pizza away from him once he had seen the box because he would not understand and be highly upset! They should be more considerate of their customers and not even expect that all people can easily return a pizza that they didn’t make correctly. They need to start taking FULL responsibility for their mistakes!!! And the fact that all but one very rude manager refused to speak on the phone with me both Friday & Sunday is terrible customer service! I went to the establishment to get the owner’s number because they refused to give me any way to contact the owner, and hesitated to give me their name(s) over the phone, Ken turned his back to me & walked away while I was speaking to him!
I stopped ordering from Yala’s for 3 months because of a poor costumer service experience that I had there in May 2019, and I am truly sorry that I gave them another chance to jip &...
Read moreI ordered two pizzas from Yala's pizza today. My family has been going to this establishment since the late 1950's when it opened. I was really excited to get pizza from here because I had not eaten here in about five years. I ordered a small thin crust pizza with pepperoni and two half toppings, and a large. I called the shop and made sure to repeat the order to them three different times. The female on the other end repeated the order and it was what I told her. I arrive to the shop and had to wait about 15 minutes on top of the 35 minutes they had told me. My pizzas were finally almost finished. An older man came to the counter and said my order back to me. It was incorrect. They had made the small pizza without any pepperoni. I informed him and he said they didn't write it correctly. He then told me he would fix the problem. He came back to the counter and told me they were heating up the pepperoni to put on the already cooked pizza. Okay, no big deal. The HUGE problem came after he walked away from the counter. A loud female employee felt the right thing to do was to stand in the back and threaten to come out to the counter and tell me I was not telling the truth, and how she knows I'm wrong and she would basically take care of me in her own way. At this point I'm very upset. I just paid $26 for two pizzas, with a side of verbal abuse, because of I'm guessing a mistake made by her. I confronted the man and his response was oh I took care of it... as she ignorantly continued to yell from the back. Great job sir. Needless to say one of the very families whom helped this establishment grow will...
