My visit to Ala Diabla was, unfortunately, a series of disappointments. Starting off with the drinks, they were a far cry from what I expected, resembling weak lemonade more than anything else. The ice in the drinks had a distinct, unappetizing swamp water taste, which made it hard to enjoy them.
The service issues began right at the door. The hostess, who was responsible for seating us, was not only coughing into her hand but also did not bother to wash them afterward. This disregard for basic hygiene in a dining setting is alarming. To add to this, the hostess threw our plates onto the table with a lack of care that was startling and unprofessional.
The interaction, or lack thereof, with the waiting staff was equally disheartening. Despite our polite expressions of gratitude, the waitress neither acknowledged our thanks nor did she offer any standard pleasantries like 'you're welcome' or 'have a good day'. This kind of indifference made us feel unwelcome and undervalued as customers.
In conclusion, my experience at Ala Diabla was deeply unsatisfactory. From the disappointing drinks to the concerning hygiene practices and the dismissive service, it's hard to imagine recommending this...
Read moreCustomer service was great, unfortunately I didn't like the sushi and the edamame. I believe every sushi they serve is drenched with chili oil or Sriracha. I asked for Philadelphia Roll and Baked Scallop Roll. No where did I indicate spicy. Every item I ordered was drenched with chili oil and it took away the freshness of the fish and the flavors. If you like spicy sushi, you can try it out and you may like it. Also if you like loud music or eating in a loud atmosphere, this is the right place to eat. I do wish the server could've asked if we wanted our orders spicy and not assume the customer ordered spicy. I did not ask the order to be returned as we were very hungry and felt it was a waste of time.
One last tip, you can pay cash to avoid the Non Cash Adjustment Fees.
The online menu showed this and it didn't indicate spicy:
Philadelphia Roll Inside: cucumber, avocado, cream cheese. Outside: salmon, avocado & house sauce.
Baked Scallop Roll Inside: California roll. Outside: baked scallops & eel sauce.
I can't review the red dragon roll as I did not try it.
3 types of edamame: garlic,...
Read moreThe place has a nice set up and the food is good. We tried the calamares a la diabla appetizers (very spicy), the baked salmon rolls and the pork ramen. The baked salmon rolls were very good, which I have only found a similar taste at Yamaha Sushi. The atmosphere is also kid friendly, and the restaurant has a kids menu. Some things to look out for is the difference between the servers and the people eating. I mistook people as waiters because the actual servers had no nametag, uniform or anything that would otherwise hint me that they work there. As far as food, the ramen was my least favorite, I would not come here for their ramen bowl. I thought I was drinking a vegetable soup with meat. The traditional ramens have an egg, a rich broth, etc. My ramen soup at A la Diabla had: carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, cucumbers, thick noodles, a clear soup and meat. To their credit, I thought it was a big portion of meat AND the restaurant is literally named as a sushi place, not ramen. Overall, I tried this restaurant after a friend recommended it. I would likely return and tell other people about...
