Van Nuys Airport Observation Area — Attraction in Los Angeles

A real hidden gem in the San Fernando Valley. Right at the edge of the taxiway, the Observation area has informative kiosks with the history of the airport, a speaker that broadcasts a feed from the Control Tower, a shaded picnic area, and playground for the kids. My 2.5 year old daughter loves watching the planes land and take off at the Van Nuys Airport observation area. On this visit we showed up in the middle of the week, and it was pretty mellow. There were a few people on their lunch breaks, and another kid watching the aircraft as well. There isn’t a ton of shade, so sunscreen before you go in the summer months. Took my seven-year-old grandson, they have a mock-up runway painted on the ground, you can hear the tower talking, took his scooter he had a great time, we've even had lunch there at the tables, channel 7 News copter landed there while we were eating they were quite friendly...
