"This review does not even deserve one star. On Saturday, January 25, 2025, my friends and I visited the observatory and decided to have coffee and snacks at the café.
We stood and waited approximately 15 minutes to dispense our beverages while a male employee kept fidgeting with the cabinets underneath the cappuccino machine. He refused to step aside to let us get our beverages, choosing instead to continue his task.
After finally getting seated and beginning to enjoy some peaceful time, a female employee suddenly started sweeping the floor right next to us, dragging chairs back and forth across the floor. This was very disruptive and noisy. When I politely asked her to stop dragging the chairs because it was bothersome, she responded by dragging them more forcefully, creating even more noise.
When my friends and I discussed her rude behavior, she approached our table in a confrontational manner, saying she had overheard us talking about her. My friend attempted to explain that we had asked her nicely to stop dragging the chairs. When we asked for her name, she claimed she didn't have one and told us to finish up and leave, threatening to call security.
I asked the cashier to speak with a manager and learned that the confrontational employee was actually the supervisor. I stepped outside to seek assistance from observatory management, where a gentleman informed me that the café is operated by Wolfgang Puck, not Griffith Park Observatory.
Upon my return, three Griffith Park Observatory employees and two park rangers had arrived, demanding we leave. I requested a refund and asked for the supervisor's name, which I learned was Faouzia (or Faouria) Burfield. The other employees present were Jackie, Armando, and Lori.
Neither my friends nor I have ever been treated with such disrespect. This supervisor could have handled the situation professionally instead of having us removed from the premises. She clearly needs training in professional customer service and...
Read moreBeware that pickpockets work in organized groups to rob unsuspecting tourists of their belongings here. My wife had her wallet plucked from her purse in the cafe and the thieves racked up thousands in charges within an hour before we were able to freeze all our accounts. The park rangers/security were very helpful but limited in what they could realistically do. Luckily our credit card companies are not charging us for the fraud and the cameras caught it all. We’re currently working with the police to ID them.
Reviewing the footage, the group of two men and one woman were very deliberate in their spotting of our baby stroller, and worked as an organized crew to keep an eye out as the lead fat jerk reached into my wife’s purse. The next table saw it all happen and didn’t bother to say anything to us.
The observatory and LAPD need to realize that these venues are hotbeds for organized crime and that real security and rnforcement is necessary. Until then, keep your belongings close and be sure to bring your own means of...
Read moreFairly good restaurant, I don't know anywhere else where you can eat while seeing the Hollywood Sign, it's really the only place you can really eat over here as it's all the way up in the mountains. I had the gnocchi & the macaroni & cheese, & both were actually really good. Good selection of food, but if you are a picky eater, this is not the place as other than what I got, they had grilled chicken, hot dogs, salad, & the rest was prepackaged food (sandwiches, uncrustables, e.t.c). The prices are not too bad if you consider the fact that there are no other restaurants nearby, although the amount of food you get for the price is not great ($12 for basically 2 different pastas, & not big portions either), but I split the food, & it filled me up for the next few hours, & I had soda, which the soda machines were working well with no problems, & they even had free water cups...
