Cafe Chapin Bakery & Restaurant — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I've been coming to this bakery and restaurant for a few years. My favorite itens are the bean and cheese pupusas and the platanos. Yummy! Pupusas are a homemade small corn tortilla filled with beans, pork, chicken or beef and queso cheese. They are grilled until slightly crispy on the outside. The platanos are grilled plaintains with usually a little butter and sugar on top. This particular place makes the best South American food. Their bakery is traditionally Guatemalan desserts like sweet bread, with various jelly toppings. The price is reasonable based on the quality and portion of food they give the customer.

Definitely worth the drive to Van Nuys to try it out. A+...

Do not go there. They sell old and stale sweetbread. One partucular bread called maria Luisa was slimy becaused of expired milk. Upon taking it back she gave my wife attitude and after poking on the bread and breaking it apart to attempt to prove otherwise, she returned it claiming it was ok and refused to return the money. It was my first time eating there, the lady who take the order she didnt give me knife , ice, and napkins . When i order the food , she told that the food was in the counter she didnt like it. And i told her that she has to say that she like the food ,so she can sale it the food . When i asked the options she told she was from El Salvador . Another thing the hair chair was dirty and floor too. Hoy fue la primera vez que fui a comer alli . Quede desecpcionada , la muchacha me atendio cuando le estaba preguntando por las opciones the comida me dijo que , lo que esta en las charolas no le gustaba, se supone que si esta atendiendo tiene que ofrecer y decir lo que vende, y no estar diciendo lo que le no le gusta, habia un hombre y una muchacha atendiendo pero se fueron, no recomiendo este lugar porque esta sucio. Y luego por una cocacola me cobraron $4 de botella se me hace muy caro.El nombre de la muchacha me dijo que se llamaba Yenifer. Cuando le pregunte por el dueño dijo que llegaria mas tarde.
