California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Went to visit the new neighborhood restaurant. Will never go again! The customer service is horrendous! We were standing inside waiting for our food, while wearing our masks properly. A woman who works there came over to tell us we couldn’t stand inside to wait for our food and we had to wait outside. Told her my wife couldn’t wait outside in the heat as she was just getting over hives. She said ok, just don’t drink your boba drink while you are waiting. We said ok. As we continue to wait for our food, a male worker approaches us to tell us we can’t wait inside for our food. We tell him the same story we told the female worker. He asked us to wait in our car. We walked there from our home a block away. We felt irritated by the whole experience and asked for our money back and we would leave. We got our money back as we were escorted out by two employees. Meanwhile, there were two men ordering food. One did not have a mask on at all and the other had a mask on only partially covering his face, not covering his nose. They were allowed to stay and order. Complete BS and I will not return to our new neighborhood restaurant and I will tell all our neighbors of our experience as well. You can never get back your first impression. We had just come from the new BobaTime store, where we were treated like an actual person and was allowed to wait inside for our order. I recently visited California Fish Grill with my wife and newborn, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambience set the perfect tone for a relaxed meal. The staff was exceptionally attentive and accommodating, making us feel welcome and comfortable, especially with a little one in tow.

The food, however, was the true star of the evening. We started with the Cajun salmon tacos, which were perfectly seasoned, bursting with flavor, and had just the right amount of spice. The grill plates were equally outstanding—each bite of the fish was cooked to perfection, with a smoky char that elevated the flavors beautifully. Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying the fish and chips, and they did not disappoint. The crispy, golden batter paired with the flaky fish was simply divine.

Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and crafted with care, showcasing the high quality and attention to detail this restaurant takes pride in. First time here. The customer service was severely lacking! We found the ordering process to be highly confusing with minimal direction from the staff. Our wishes were to dine-in, so we politely asked for the table to be wiped. Before helping us, the employee proceeded to clean several other empty tables that had no actual customers waiting. Then, once our order was ready, we had no idea! Apparently, they were calling out an unknown order number. Our food was sitting at the counter for 15 minutes! I couldn't believe it! CFG should really consider using the customer's name and then matching up whatever confirmation number they need once customer approaches counter. Or, bringing the food to the customer's dine-in table. They didn't even pay us any courtesy of simply walking up to our table - RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM - to ask, "Is this your order?".
