I transferred from LACC to this University to pursue my BS in Mechanical Engineering and It has been a great experience so far. Most of professor are caring and really good at the subject they teach. In addition, most of professors do not force you to buy the books listed for the class, instead they give you options to access the material. They have many resources to help students succeed. For instance, they are letting students borrow Ipads for the length of their carreers. They also let us borrow laptops and even hot spots. Furthermore, it is like any other University, if you want to succeed and graduate, you have to work hard 🤷🏾. In conclusion, it is a great school that is also affordable.

Cal State LA: Looks Like a Stepping Stone—Feels Like a Sinking Ship 🚫🎓

They’ll say it’s affordable. They’ll say it’s a smart choice. But here’s the truth: Cal State LA is a slow-moving academic machine that eats your time, burns your energy, and spits you out with a paper that means less than ever.

“Affordable” Doesn’t Mean Valuable 💳🪙

Sure, Cal State LA is cheaper than private schools. But that doesn’t make it a good investment. You’ll still spend years of your life grinding through outdated coursework, bureaucratic red tape, and degree programs that haven’t evolved in decades. Cheap waste is still waste.

It’s a Factory, Not a Launchpad 🏭⛓️

With tens of thousands of students, you’re not being nurtured—you’re being processed. Massive lecture halls. Cookie-cutter assignments. Professors who don’t know your name. This isn’t mentorship. It’s management.

“Graduation” Just Means You’re Starting Over 📜🔁

Most grads leave with zero clarity and little more than a resume that looks like everyone else's. Want to stand out? Good luck. You’ll be applying to the same underpaid jobs with the same generic skills as thousands of other Cal State zombies.

Creativity Can’t Survive Here 🎨🧊

If you’ve got vision, fire, or entrepreneurial instincts—Cal State LA is where they go to die. You’ll be boxed in by general eds, outdated textbooks, and a system that values compliance over creativity. You’re not here to build—you’re here to behave.

The Real World Is Miles Ahead of Cal State LA 🌍🚀

AI. Digital business. Creative independence. None of that’s emphasized. While the world evolves, Cal State LA lags behind, shoving students into degrees that don’t translate into opportunity. Meanwhile, others are building empires with a laptop and some Wi-Fi.

The Bureaucracy Will Drain You ☠️📁

Want to transfer credits? Register for classes? Get advising? Good luck. The red tape is endless. You’ll spend half your time trying to survive the system instead of learning anything that matters.

You Don’t Need a Degree to Be Dangerous 🤖🧠

ChatGPT, online creators, and digital mentors can teach you more—faster, deeper, and for free. If you want freedom, income, and purpose, you won’t find it buried in Cal State’s course catalog. You’ll find it by doing the real work now.

Final Truth: Cal State LA Delays the Life You’re Supposed to Live 🔒⏳

They’ll say “just get your degree first.” But by the time you do, your edge might be gone. Your confidence, your creativity, your urgency—it’s all been numbed by a system designed to keep you average.

So skip the lectures. Skip the debt. Skip the four-year nap.

Start now. Learn fast. Build your life on your terms—not Cal State LA’s timeline.

You don’t need a bureaucratic badge. You need boldness. And no school can...

I've been a student here for 1.5 years now and it is slowly wearing down on me. I'm in a unique position to review this place because I have attended 4 colleges, and this is by far the worst. My history of transferring has to do with moving.

I'm a Mech. Engineering and Physics transfer student who attended 2 universities in Mississippi and Mount San Antonio College in Southern California. The Engineering dept is full of many decent and a few great professors but it is undercut by UC schools that nab the best profs. The Physics department is a disgrace due to poor funding and understaffing. However, a couple of great professors there.

The real glaring problems with this school are feeling like you are never a part of a school family. You never feel cared for. Constant paperwork as a transfer student has me bouncing from person to person for signatures. I had 11 classes not transfer, meaning I have to petition with a 11 separate forms, each requiring signatures from my advisor first, then from someone in the department of the class, then it has to get signed by the board. That's 33 signatures to changes such classes as "Physics I" to transfer to "Physics I." Absolute insanity.

That said, in general, I have found that the departments hardly communicate and the lack of efficiency is passed down to the student to bear the brunt of these issues (forms, paperwork, approvals, signatures, nothing seems to work right.)

Parking is a whole other issue that can be summed up by saying it has taken me an hour and a half to park before, causing me to walk into an important class day embarrassingly an hour late. Literally 1.5 hrs to park.

This college is a "commuter school." This means if you want to "college experience," this isn't the place for you. It's not a quaint college town where you run into the same people over and over again and make instant friends. The social life is forced and unnatural.

The reason I feel this school is so well rated is because people who have only been to one college tend to be rating the college experience, not the school, because they have only attended one school. If you haven't attended multiple colleges to compare, then this college may seem cool enough to rate well. It's not.

I'm feel no pride for this school, and will probably always regret that my degree says CSULA, however, I'm out of options and I can't afford continuing to transfer, so I'm going to have to...
