I visited last night with my son and his GF who’s half Ecuadorian, and has visited Ecuador numerous times.
She was excited to drink a Inka Cola and more so about the pan de yuca.
The hostess came and described many of the menu items and was so proud and excited to share her food.
We ordered the pan de yuca, tigrillo, and bandera doblo guata/ceviche and shared family style.
The look of delight and satisfaction on the girlfriend’s face when she took her first bite of the puffball (pan de yuca) confirmed the foods authenticity.
The Bandera Doblo was perfection - and a lovely presentation - with crispy/tangy onions and mid sized shrimp ceviche. The goat was melt in your mouth tender and gravy/sauce so delicious with the rice and plantain.
The Tigrillo was so satisfying with the crunchy bits of pork, I could’ve had several more bites but was so stuffed by the end!
It was AMAZING food. Truly delicious and quite the “comfort food”. We were all stuffed and as we walked back to our car the girlfriend proclaimed, “I’m so full of happiness, right now! Both my heart and my stomach, what a wonderful meal!”
Go support this BEAUTIFUL hard working immigrant family - you will not be disappointed.
(Note on Atmosphere. This is not fine dining in a bougie space. it’s a start up with commercial lighting that’s a little harsh and random furnishings. But there is a wonderful mural taking up an entire wall! It features a map of Ecuador, sea turtles, volcanoes, etc. So fun!
Also- if you approach from Vermont heading north, it was hard to tell they were open, so be sure to turn the corner onto Gardena - they are open...
Read moreThe service is amazing!!! I was greeted by an older gentleman at the door that held the door open for me as he stepped out. He was very welcoming and invited me in. He told me that the lady at the counter could help me out. I couldn't decide between the guatita or the seco de chivo so she let me do the plato bandera which is basically seasoned rice with two choices of protein. I can combine something from the sea and something from the land or both sea or both land options. i took both land options and had the goat and beef tripe. Again the service is top notch!! Jade, the little girl at the counter was the cutest little girl ever!! To drink i got the tomatillo drink. It's not tomatoes . It was so tasty and a flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It tasted fresh, like a mix of passionfruit with pineapple orange banana type of drink but it only has one fruit in it. The lady described it like little limes but they aren't limes. I'm not sure what it was but definitely try it out. The goat was super tender and just the right amount of goat flavor. The spices were warm spices. the tripe dish was cooked in a peanut sauce with potatoes. Tripe is difficult to cook because if not cleaned properly, it can become very murky tasting. However this dish was clean, smooth and silky. The peanut flavor is very subtle. Very good food and very good service. Will...

I've been going to this restaurant for 8 months now and I wish I had discovered it sooner, the people are amazing, its famlily owned and I can go on and on about this hidden gem. They also have Ecuadorean products, atun, chifles, galletas de amor, aji, cacao en polvo etc. Definitely a must try if...
