If you’re looking for a fun, casual, and beautiful brunch spot, look no further. Parking was easy, but I could only find metered street parking close by. Order at the counter, and take a number. Simple. When I got in on Saturday at around 10 AM it wasn’t too busy. It did start to pick up as my meal went on.
I’ve never seen a chocolate covered banana mocha, so naturally I needed to taste it. When I ordered, the staff at the front told me I’d need to come back to the counter to pick it up when it was ready. I didn’t hear her call my number as it’s a large space, but one of the runners came to my table and told me it was ready. I’m so glad I ordered it, because I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. You’ll be in for a treat if you get it.
I ordered the steak and eggs for breakfast, and I was overall happy with the meal. I ordered the steak medium-rare (it came out medium-well 😕) and the eggs over-medium (those were cooked perfectly). I was disappointed that the steak was overcooked, but it did taste very good. I loved the spices on it. When you’re paying over $20 for breakfast it should be cooked right, but I don’t like sending my food back as I don’t like being that guy. One standout was the breakfast potatoes! Omg, I’ve never tasted such a wonderful breakfast potato. Buttery, with salt and pepper, soft as clouds on the inside, and a crispy skin on the outside. Yum!
It was a delicious breakfast. And it looks like there’s more to love, so it’d be a great spot to come back to...
Read moreNice place overall. Seen it on yelp for few months and finally were able to make it here. It is located on Van Nuys and they have a lot of meter parking but may have some parking in the back. Let me just say how amazing their decor is! They have fresh produce available to purchase it says on the wall however we did not see the actual produce. There are large table and smaller tables with oversized chairs. So cool! It just feels like a pleasant place to sit and work on the computer while sipping on some coffee. We ordered vanilla latte, super yummy! Also we got jasmine green tea. The way their dishes and everything is served is by ordering at the cashier and they will get you a number. So this is where it went weird. We got a number, went to sit at a table and they made us drink at the counter and called us...ummm weird... we thought ok no problem but then we saw them serving drink to other tables. Ok fine. For the breakfast we got avocado toast and farm scramble. The avocado toast was kind of like make your own toast. Comes with 4 pieces of toast, side of cottage cheese, avocado, pickled onion and poached eggs(2). It was pretty good actually, nothing special. The scramble was scrambled eggs with spinach, tomatoes and I think cheese. Both dishes came with whole potatoes with cheese on top. Both dishes tasted fresh and good, definitely nice little breakfast. Overall we enjoyed the place and might...
Read moreThe children and their mothers are savoring late organic brunch. Its an overcast lazy Sunday in the city of Angels and 12,000 and counting homeless. The waitress with the pokerface dressed in a plaid flannel shirt as if she came straight from Colorado's whiskey distillery is wiping off deep espresso colored barn table. Mutterings about film industry and the multimillion dollar contracts with 1950s music mix are making sounds chaotic. A woman to my right is sipping dark coffee from a ceramic oversized white mug. The cup is so large that I can barely see half of her face. Every piece of rustic furniture in this trendy place is oversized. Giant wooden chairs are towering over enormously wide farm table. How vertically challenged people deal with this exaggeration? I wish to pause the music so I can desern the conversations. Nothing is like eavesdropping at a public place. Or pause the muttering sound and listen to the diner's music. Farm table co. is an urban joint that would feel cozier if it was filled with the smell of freshly roasted coffee. It could boast the full biography from birth to table on organic chickens thrown into my salad. I couldn't resist to inquire the waitress about what organic farms they have contracts with. She took me seriosly and it felt like an episode of Portlandia and after two poached eggs I was thrilled that this...
