Puro Sabor Peruvian Restaurant — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I would have given Puro Sabor 2 or 3 stars if not for their delicious ceviche. Their ceviche mixto has tons of seafood and the mouth-puckering leche de tigre that they use is quite amazing. I am wiping the drool off my face as I fantasize about eating this dish again.

The ceviche is served with tons of red onion, boiled yucca and yam, and corn. It's definitely very traditional and authentic Peruvian ceviche. Definitely one of the best I've ever had. The dish will run you about $15 though.

Their lomo saltado is, however, a little disappointing. The meat was a little dry and the dish was quite expensive for the portion. The flavor was okay but I wouldn't order it again.

The food is very tasty but the service wasn't great. When we walked in, the hostess was talking on her cell phone and didn't know any English. We sat wherever we wanted, and had to wait for someone who knew English to take our order. We were the only people in the restaurant and after we placed our order, we waited at least 10 minutes just to get a cup of water. Once we got our orders, the waitress did not check on us at all. When we were done with our food, we sat for a while waiting for someone to approach us to give us our check but no one did. Waste of time and money! I ordered food an hour and a half in advance so I could just swing by and pick it up. When I got there, they told me they were out of the item I ordered. I asked them why they didn’t call to tell me prior to me picking it up. They spoke no English and had me speak with some random person on the phone who didn’t even work at the restaurant to translate. They told me they could refund me but I just wanted food so I ordered another thing on the menu. I ended up waiting for another 20 minutes while they prepared it.
