La Cava — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I am very disheartened to be writing this review as I have ate at La Cava previously and it was a vastly different experience. My girlfriend and I came to eat last night for Valentine’s Day thinking we were helping support a local small business during these tough times but left completely insulted and dissatisfied at the lack of professionalism. First off it was clear immediately that they had more tables in outdoor seating then the staff and kitchen can accommodate during non-covid restrictions. This was probably why it took 40 minutes for cold appetizers to come out. When I asked to speak to the manager who more likely then not is the owner because I can’t imagine someone being allowed to speak to a customer in such a disrespectful and belittling manner he came only to justify that covid and restrictions is the only reason there was a lack of preparation for our reservation. I told him that beef carpaccio is raw insinuating that the appetizer does not require much preparation only for him to respond that beef carpaccio is suppose to be raw and missing the point completely. I proceeded by asking to just cancel the entirety of our meal and to bring the check convinced that there was no way to receive just a genuine apology for the long wait. On top of all of this the owner/manager ended my complaint with “ we don’t want people like you anyways.” I guess the owner doesn’t want a returning customer who reluctantly paid a $119 bill for a bottle of wine and two untouched appetizers. Long Story Short: We showed up, we didn't like the food on the menu, and left. And because of that they claimed me a no show and charged me $100.

We made a Reversation through open table for Valentine's Day and when we got there, we discovered that there was a prefixed menu. First, while making the Reversation nowhere did it say there will be a prefixed menu, I made the Reversation with the intention of eating off their regular menu. Second, the options on the prefixed menu were nothing to our liking. At that point we decided to get up and leave. The next day i discovered La Cava claimed us as a no show and charged us $100!

When i called the manager to explain, he came off rude and expected us to go to his website. If we are using Open table why would i need to go on your website! Its not my fault you didn't update your profile! Then when he felt he was in the wrong he HUNG UP on me.

It's not about the money here, if we have known that they were going to charge us anyway we would of probably ate there but there was no understanding. At some point he says, "what do you think, we stay here for your reservation?" Well duh, its a REVERSATION! I showed up to the Reversation and left because we didn't like the menu. I had a terrible experience, I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day, and I got there, and they wanted to charge me 95 dollars for each person, and since I didn’t want to stay because they just wanted to give me what they had and I could not choose from the menu which is the reason why I went here because of the variety of foods and they were small portions of food the ones that they forcedly wanted to give me, so much money and is not even worth it, this is very astonishing, this is not a restaurant, they ended up charging me 50 dollars for cancelling the reservation.
