I know, I know...a 5⭐ review always seems over-enthusiastic to me too. In this case, however, it's true. I've been here only twice, and I now consider myself a regular. Service: The first time I walked in, I was immediately and warmly greeted by the staff. They weren't swamped, but it was buzzing and I chose to sit at the bar. Alexis was wonderful. Quick, attentive, and very sweet. The second time I was there was a week later, yet the hostess welcomed me back immediately. Alexis happened to be behind the bar again, and made me feel right at home. Later in the night, Sam (who I believe is the sous chef) came over and chatted for a while. It became quickly apparent that the staff make an intention to know their guests, which I personally love in a place. Food+Drinks: so far as food, I've had both the Fried Mac and the Grilled Artichoke. The Fried Mac is everything I wanted; crispy outside, gooey inside, and served with hot sauce. Amazing! The Grilled Artichoke smells amazing, and really picks up some lovely smokey flavour from the grill and comes served with (what I believe is) a really lovely aioli. Apart from the one Shiner Bock that I got, I was primarily drinking cocktails while I was there, and I'm here to tell you: Alexis knows her way around a bar. The classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned or a Vesper are exactly what you expect, and the Boneyard specific cocktails are well-balanced and not unnecessarily flashy or contrived. Atmosphere: I would describe the style as "modern goth meets lumber-sexual", a combination I like, but frankly the pictures online do it justice. The atmosphere itself is warm, friendly, and inviting. I never felt like I was being rushed, or that I was an inconvenience. It felt like sitting at a friend's house (who's being an incredibly attentive host) and having some drinks. Overall, it's an amazing place, run by lovely people, that's been around for forever. So stop-in, have a cold...
Read moreThis place USED to have one of if not the best burgers in LA... Would really contend with best in LA contests and probably win.. it was the big juicy patties cooked on oak, with excellent toppings and they came with this really great sauce for the fries and little side of coleslaw... That's all gone
I have a buddy that would drive from San Diego to LA for work and then drive a extra 30 miles to Boneyard just for their OMG burger... I don't know if I can tell him that they have ruined their burgers., he'll be really sad so I'll just tell him they are still great, I don't want him to go through that.
I went in for a burger and now they are $20 and up and $6 extra for non hand cut fries probably bagged frozen fries... And the burger is a teeny tiny little kid size patty supposed to be 6 oz I guess, it looked like a little mini hockey puck in big bun nowhere near the edges of the bun... it's a little cute kids tike size burger for children on the kids menu, or for a small woman, maybe for a small dog who has been a good boy..
This place had mind blowing burgers before and more options, they only have a couple burgers and now it's a little tiny kid size dry meat patty in a big dry bun with a piece of lettuce and tomato for $20 fries not included... Not juicy, not delicious, honestly Fatburger blows this burger away and you get a big fat juicy burger and fat fries for like $16. This is like the woke version of a hamburger now, or a "green" eco burger
So sad, I guess I wasn't missing much not coming here lately since they disgraced their former glory, probably new owners or something trying to save a few cents on...
Read moreI have to be honest and I know how important reviews are to businesses and I take my reviews seriously. Boneyard was.....ok the frito pie was a joke some chips with what looked like a drizzle of bean sauce and some jalapeños on it (says Brisket Chilli come with it...I hope that they forgot the brisket Chilli and that sauce wasn't their idea of Chilli) so skip the frito pie $16 !? Their brisket at face value good. Their beef ribs were also decent. The pulled pork again decent. To me great bbq spot is a mixture of great quality smoked meat. Next is the sauce...good BBQ sauce is CRUCIAL in my opinion. The sauce they brought out tasted like it was diet BBQ sauce completely underwhelming laking any tang or depth of taste (please work on your sauce guys) now you should opt for their Spicy BBQ sauce which was better than the regular sauce (not spicy at all) the next pillar of a great BBQ spot are of course the sides. The coleslaw was average (I don't expect coleslaw to wow me anywhere) the dissapoimtmemt was the collard greens I think they forgot the salt that day or any seasoning (I saw bits of meat in the greens (which means they know how to make them) but it just tasted like water (I've had collard greens in many BBQ joints this was probably the worst) the star was the fried Mac and cheese. So over all it was ok. A bit pricey (but what BBQ isn't these days) probably won't be back because there's better BBQ in the area (I won't name them out of fairness to Boneyard) but if you're in the area try them out maybe you...
