The Hidden Gem of Tujunga -- Having lived in the area for over six years, I've driven past La Mia Bakery countless times but never stopped in--until recently. And let me just say, I regret not visiting sooner. From the moment I walked in, I was taken aback by how spacious the bakery is. It has so much potential to be a go-to breakfast, brunch, and bakery spot. In an area that doesn't have many upscale or standout places, La Mia Bakery is a refreshing find. Its prime location on a high-traffic street makes it a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered by more people. Now, onto the most important part--the baked goods. The selection here is incredible. From flaky, buttery puff pastries in both sweet and savory options to perfectly moist, single-serving pastries, cakes, and grab-and-go packaged snacks, there's something for everyone. What stands out from this bakery is it's not your typical Armenian baked goods, yes, they have those as well, but they also have unique flavors & designs! But what truly sets this place apart is its Armenian specialties. The Lahmajun, often called Armenian pizza, is outstanding. The Pirashkis are my personal favorite, especially the seasoned potato and beef varieties--absolute perfection. Beyond the pastry's & delicious goods, the customer service is what keeps me coming back. The woman who always helps me is incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. She greets every customer with a smile and makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. If you've ever driven past this place and wondered if it's worth stopping in, take this as your sign to do it. Don't sleep on La Mia Bakery--whether you're grabbing a quick snack or filling up a box with goodies, you won't be...
Read moreFinally tried out this cafe after it had been on my radar for ages and the only regret is how much time I wasted coming here. That, and how now every dessert and hot chocolate I'll have anywhere else won't likely live up to the ones from here because wow! All the superlatives to describe this place would still be inadequate to how amazing everything I ordered were, from the aforementioned hot chocolate, to the hazelnut cheesecake and yet another cheesecake made with vanilla and chocolate with coffee cream and chocolate eclair.
All these were made by hand by the owner of the cafe, who is an absolute gem of a person and also must surely be a magician because how is it possible that all her output exceeded my expectations! It's practically criminal that her cafe isn't packed with customers because I guarantee everyone who comes here will become a devotee. Even for those with no sweet tooth, this place still have lots to offer, as the wonderfully gifted owner also makes savory breads and soups and other delicious treats.
Please come support this kind, humble, and hardworking woman, as everyone would also be doing themselves a favor by being introduced to some of the best...
Read moreLa Mia bakery is absolutely incredible! Even before I adopted a vegan lifestyle, I had a fantastic dining experience there. The best part is that they offer the option to make almost anything vegan if you inform them in advance. So, you can still indulge in all the delicious treats without missing out!
I can't praise this place enough! For my daughter's 21st birthday, I ordered a cake from them, and it surpassed all expectations. The cake looked way more stunning than the reference photos I provided, and it tasted absolutely phenomenal. Their customer service is top-notch too!
Moreover, they have a delectable spicy chicken roll on their savory menu, which comes with their delightful homemade sauce. It's hands down my favorite savory item...
