I’m from NYC and grew up on good Italian deli food made by mothers and grandmothers. I was surprised how small the sandwiches were for $15 each. The meatball sandwich didn’t have round meatballs, but rather something that looked like meatloaf. Both ends of the bread was burned and hard. Taste was okay, but a little dry because there was not enough sauce. The meatball sandwich at Eastside deli is much better and a few dollars cheaper. They have locations in Los Felix and Chinatown. The sandwich is far more superior in taste and value. It will be worth the trip! The mortadella was just okay too, it didn’t have enough spread so it wasn’t well balanced! The total cost was $32.86 for 2 sandwiches which didn’t leave me satisfied. It took over 20 minutes to get the sandwiches when there was only 1 person in front of me. Their service is extremely slow, which is a reflection of how they treat their customers. At Eastside deli, you get your sandwich in 5-10 minutes depending what time you go. They only have 1 or 2 workers, it’s a very small place and you can’t go into the store so no bathroom! If they do well, pay little for rent since it’s such a small place, why don’t they hire more workers so things can be more efficient and cut down on the waiting times. I believe that is part of the experience and service they should provide! It seems they are pretty arrogant. Poor management as they run out of food on a weekend. Safe yourself time and money as there are way too many good Italian sandwiches all over the city at a fair and...
Read moreOKAY FRANKIE, this place does the hardest thing in pizza very well: the crust. It's a nice thin slice with some flop, but the crust had a very good crunch and flavor. The crust was very good, one of the best thin sliced pizza CRUSTS I've had in Los Angeles, whose pizza crust game mysteriously pales in comparison to the elite tristate area east coast trailblazers. I can appreciate differences in regional style, but quality is generally lacking in terms of SoCal pizza. LaSorted does the difficult with fantastic flare. The crust again, made this stop worth it. That being said, the cheese blend was overpowering, with a little too much going on. I like a lighter cheese layer on a thin slice, so the pie cooks evenly. There was a lot of cheese that melted to the center (and oil), resulting in a floppy slice. After sitting in the box, the cheese hardens, and it looses the stretch. I think adding more mozzarella, with some parmesan would be a better blend, as it was overpowered by some cheesy funk that took away from the rest of the pizza. I'd be interested in ordering again, trying a custom order with light cheese and extra sauce. Overall, any dissatisfaction is due to my personal taste differences. If you grew up on west coast pizza, this is on the better end of the spectrum. Three stars because I can't get past the cheese blend, but with some tweaking it could EASILY go far higher. Great crust you guys, which is what plagues most LA...
Read moreI’m a sandwich person always looking for a decent sandwich. The sandwiches here are pretty great. I love good bread and they offer fantastic bread, from their focaccia to their hoagie bread, their options are delicious. Because everyone knows a good sandwich is nothing without good bread attached to it. I tried the prosciutto sandwich, my only complaint was there was some part of it that gave me a bit of an overwhelming salty flavor that m kind of just lingered. Other than that all the ingredients were delicious, from the fig jam to the arugula and the lemon ricotta. Great blend of ingredients. My boyfriend got the meatball hoagie, the long ball I believe? it was also delicious, not messy at all like most meatball subs are. This is because they make the meatball like a patty instead of an actual meat ball and this just makes for a better sandwich shape overall versus a traditional sub that gets messy quick. Would definitely order the long ball again. Coming back to try some of their other sandwiches! Didn’t get to try the pizza but I’d be open to trying it out. Also keep in mind it is a small takeout window essentially, so you gotta enjoy at home. They have one table but you’re better off taking your food home. Took about 20-25 min to get my order but it was also a busy Friday night and they had lots of orders. Definitely...
