The ratings for this place is way high and it's cuz their food is top notch! Friendly staff and great building. So why the 3 stars? Well I ordered a burrito 🌯 with carnasada , sour cream, and other assorted goodies in their . 20 min go by but I'm not worried cuz the chips are great. The manager comes by, "have you ordered yet?" Me ya brotha . Then I kid you not 5 min later same dude "did you order yet?" Me- ya man. Meanwhile a big to go order is being picked up next to me at the bar , the lady picking it up signed the check and put it pretty close to me . 2 min later the server who took my order comes by picks up the check and says thank you to me and ask if I want anything else. I told her I didn't get my food yet and that's not mine. She goes into the kitchen comes back out and tells me "sorry about that it's coming right out". I said ok, thinking to myself she probably forgot but as long as I get my food. 5 min later it comes out and I can tell it's not what I ordered. No sour cream and it's chicken. I don't waste food and I already poked at it so I call the manager over and tel him, "look man it's all good but this is not what I ordered. I can tell she forgot , I've been serving tables for 10 years and unfortunately when you forget an order you gotta ask to make sure it's right". He says he's sorry, I'm super chill, even though it's not even close to what I ordered it was a great burrito. But it was hard to enjoy cuz .... and I'm not kidding you I was asked if I was ok 10 times during the meal. Over stimulating the guest is often over looked. Don't ask me 10 times if I'm ok. Once is enough. Manager drops the bill with no price adjustment. I don't believe in giving away free food but at least take off the tax or something. My girl and I were loyal and constant customers of Madre. Our favorite dishes were the aguachiles and the 2 tacos appetizer. We would go almost every other week. However, they started to lose the touch. They stopped paying attention to the details. About 2 weeks ago my girl and I went to dine in and both ordered the aguachiles. I was looking forward to them since I usually get the tacos but this time I decided to give the aguachiles a go. Both of our aguachiles were bland. Not much flavor. The unique flavor of their aguachiles wasn’t there anymore. No spice at all. We asked for salt. That didn’t do it. My girl had to ask for a new plate and they made them better without a problem. I was almost done with mine after numerous tries of trying to improve the flavor with salt or chips so I didn’t bother changing it. Fast forward to today and we were disappointed again. We decided to give them another shot but this time we ordered to go. I ordered my usual tacos and my girl her aguachiles. The aguachiles were flavorless again but my tacos were even worse. The amount of meat they put in them was laughable. I felt like I was eating a lonely tortilla. I remembered when we first came across Madre and I got the tacos, they were packed full of meat.
