Mendocino Farms — Restaurant in Los Angeles

My boss orders salads for delivery all the time and raves about this place. OKAY, now I get it. The place was super busy and packed, but seating was available. Ranged from people on there lunch breaks, seasoned citizens to a group of moms each with their baby strollers trying to manuever through the dining area.

Since this was my first time here, i wasn't really sure what to get. They offer a seasonal menu, along with their classics and favorites, as well as vegan options.

It's set up cafeteria style and you order with the hostess. I asked for a recommendation and the hostess suggested the Peruvian Steak Sandwich. I was concerned it would be smothered in cheese, so she suggested light cheese.

Near the cashier counter they have fresh made deli items, like pastas and slaws that you can sample. As I passed down the line you can see all the food being prepared and I noticed some delicious looking bacon bits.

We met Matt, the manager in training. He came over to say hello and asked if we needed anything, so we asked if we could have a sample of that bacon? Not only did he give us the bacon bits, but he also gave a us a little taste of some mouth watering make you wanna slap your momma Pork Belly!! SO GOOD!

The hostess was spot on about my sandwich!! It was so tasty, you'll see in my pix what's left of my sandwich when I finally remembered to snap a shot.

My co-worker ordered the Modern Tuna "Almost Melt" sandwich with dill pickle potato chips. I'm purdy sure the sandwich was really good since she wouldn't let the staff take her finished plate because she wanted to eat every crumb and for a second I thought she was going to lick the serving tray to get every morsel of food.

We were excited to try Mendocino Farms and found it to be a great newish place with an enthusiastic and friendly staff, and lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

I had the blue plate special which was half a sandwich and my choice of sides. I had a caprese sandwich which was delicious and very fresh tasting, along with the beet and quinoa side, which was also great and included chunks of green apples (which were a delightful surprise.)

Our kid really enjoyed his grilled cheese sandwich (but he refused to eat the side of apples out of some kind of crazy kid-based non-sensical principle.)

My wife had the Vegan Green Goddess Avocado toast on gluten-free bread. She thought it was good, albeit perhaps a little too much was going on in the dish, so it was hard to identify specifically what was great about it. (It’s also possible she just wasn’t in the mood to offer too much of an assessment to further my agenda of being a crazy prolific reviews writer.)

This location offers both Inside and outside seating and it was very crowded on our Sunday afternoon visit, so we had trouble finding the table and ended up crowding together at a table for two. Ultimately this is the sign of a restaurant whose food is worth the visit.

I have to say being from Wisconsin I love going into pretentious food places and taste what they have to offer 7 out of 10 times I get so so food for insane prices. The meal selection I chose from a wow selection was the "Not so fried " Chicken sandwich. And a pickles and dill potato salad. Now I make one of the best potato salads I have eaten but this potatoes salad made me smile and even came close to tears as the shear simplicity and delicate flavors that mingles in every bite. If you like potato salad you will love this potato salad . Now on to this beautiful sandwich . The flavor I was unprepared for and textures were so happy and made me smile. The crispy little bits blend so wonderful with the slaw and chicken you think this is so naughty but in reality so satisfying and delicious. And the Mango lemonade not to sweet not disappointed.
