Food used to be good last year in their old location at the mall, but ever since they moved to the newer spot, theyâve been serving re-heated/ microwaved their yesterdayâs food. The meats are not freshly cooked; they are dried and SALTYYYY and had some hot tomato sauce on them to cover the dryness, not typical of Haitians. We use Pikliz ( spicy cold slaw) to serve our food. I feel like I was served all the different parts of some turkeys, such as liver, part of a wing, and so on (some unrecognized turkey parts, NOT AS ADVERTISED ON THEIR MENU- None looked like turkey legs). In Miami, turkey plate means turkeysâ legs cut into pieces, no other parts of the turkey unless youâre cooking for home. Bathroom was a total mess, and the rice (the only freshly madeđ apart from the plantains) has a couple beans and a little too oily. A good example of the foods are yesterdayâs: when I asked for several things from the menu, the server/cashier said we ran out of them. They are done for the day. So I presume nothing is made fresh unless they make it for the day and serve it until itâs done whenever, even if that means the next couple days. No a la carte or make to order!!! Disappointed âšď¸
*Update: NO, I NEVER MENTIONED TO YOUR CASHIER THAT I WAS CRAVING FOR HAITIAN FOOD. I travel for work, so I donât live in California. While out on work duties, I always try my best to support my community and eat the staple haitian or Caribbean foods. If food is good, Iâd say it, just like I mentioned about the plantains and the rice.
I havenât gone back and not planning on it since my review 7 months ago. Iâve been to Gigiâs Cafe, the cuban cafe and bakery - they have good Caribbean food there and closer to Westin downtown LA, where I usually stay.
*Sir, I will not drop down to your level talking about my bathroom, and I would suggest you work on your approach to criticism. There are others who made the same remarks about yesterdayâs food being served. We just tell it like it is.
*There might be times when the restaurant doesnât meet the norms in the eyes of your customers; you, as the owner, just have to follow through with your employees in order to keep up with the standard.
*There is Caribbean Pleasure haitian restaurant in San Diego, a great haitian restaurant to visit and improve from. Clean spot and fresh/tasty authentic...
Read moreThe food was disgusting . Iâm in la for work all the way from Florida and If youâre Haitian you know you canât go without Haitian food for too long . I brought a friend with me to try this restaurant out and I ordered two plates for myself and my friend ordered as well. my plate was a legume and chicken and it was unpleasant. The rice was okay but both the meat was too sour like too much lime and vinegar.the chicken was so tiny the meat inside the legume was okay but the legume was too sour the only way it tasted some what okay was if you ate it with the rice together. The macaroni was okay but I was disappointed. I have no problem supporting my people but my overall review would be a 1 star . The lady in the front spoke no English which is okay but she was rude. I wouldâve thought because she wasnât as fluent in English that the food would taste...
Read moreHoly F! Mind blowingly delicious. Located upstairs in the Valley Swap Meet which is an unassuming place that I would have never entered if not by a recommendation from a Haitian friend of mine. Well worth it my friends and family run.
We ordered the legume (like a crab stew), which was so savory and had so much depth in flavor. Djon djon rice was perfectly textured and sticky. Fried pork was delicious and if you like pickled vegetables, the onions that come with it are pickled and compliment the pork so well. Plantains & pikliz yummy mmm. Nothing greasy, just fresh and delightful.
Seriously, if you want to go on a little vacation in your mouth, and step away into another dimension.. dine here. No frills & dope music vibes. Many compliments...
