neat. — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Finally had a chance to visit neat. We hoped it would be the replacement for our old Brooklyn speakeasy Blueprint, but neat came up short.

Cocktails were quite good and bartenders quite competent. But not having table service was a big downer - you’ve gotta make your way through the people at the bar ti shout out your order and wait for a long while for your drinks. Does not make for a cozy date. Or you can go back to your table and keep and eye out and they’ll wave to you when you can come pick up your drinks. That’s not the service I’m expecting for a place with premium drinks and corresponding prices. I don’t want to have to find someone to ask that a table be cleaned off so we can sit down. The decor is halfway to a cozy, romantic cocktail bar. Close but not quite. And the music volume is set to “raucous party”, not “tantalizing conversation”. Might be back for a drink sometime but it’s not our new local hangout.

Walked in hoping to gets some drinks and play guitar hero but ended up regretting coming at all. We walked in to a nice calm environment, which was nice. We were looking for the bouncer so they can check our ID’s. But no bouncer was around, so we decided to get some menus and sit down to decide on what to get. My friends already knew what they wanted so they went to the bar and were greeted by a rude bartender. I don’t know if there was a rush or something but he was irritated. The way he handled himself with our group made us rethink even staying. It was my first time coming here and it will be my last time here.

I visited this place last year before Covid. They had a great collection of rum and other spirits. However the reason I am leaving this is for the manager or who ever that is in charge of responding to all spam reviews that are posted during the covid. I was trying to see if they do offer walk-by drinks but couldn’t figure that out, but then had a good time reading the responses he left to the Mexican food- San Fran- boyfriend dinner date! And all other fictional reviews! I can’t wait for you guys open to have another night of rum tasting...
