No doubt, this is a rough time for everyone.

Like everything else in life, you don’t realize what you’re missing until it’s gone.

One of the unfortunate truths that so many eateries are facing is, of course, slower business (and therefore, shortening of hours, which then just adds to listening the business), and on top of everything else - everyone’s got less money to spread around.

It’s not easy on anyone’s side, but I share “the obvious” as helpful guidance to any owner who cares about a rebound:

If you’re lucky to have a new customer walk through your door, don’t “bitter” the experience by griping about how busy you used to be, what a bummer Business is now. While we all understand that’s a human thing, to vent to a friendly Stranger, it doesn’t exactly help ANYone on either side of the exchange.

Like so many , business is way down as well, but I try to spread the pennies around by frequenting local eateries, treating myself to something delightful once a week or two.

The ambience is perfectly serviceable. It’s not exactly a recreation of a New York deli, but that’s fine. It’s pleasant enough. The food was fine, wasn’t exceptional, and like a few other reviews mention, the bagels are smaller than one would hope. (New York bagels tend to be generous in size, not so much here.)

For one bagel with lox and tomato etc, a second bagel to nosh on later, and two cans of soda, I paid over $30.

Honestly, it’s perfectly good, I would just encourage Ownership to not take bitterness and New York sarcasm too far… maybe choose to be a pleasure to interact with, so customers wish to recommend and return.

(I promise, politeness isn’t necessarily a Los Angeles trait; you won’t lose your “edge” by making a 10 minute experience enjoyable for the...

Don’t get me wrong, these bagels are good, especially for being in LA. My issue is that I was essentially charged double. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese (lox cream cheese on one half, jalapeño cream cheese on the other) and an iced latte. According to their prices, that should’ve cost me around $14 (I originally thought $12, but that’s because the person working the register didn’t mention that oat milk was $2 more, which I think is a bit ridiculous, but not my main issue here). My total was $22. I thought the price was high, but didn’t say anything. When I got home, I checked the prices online and then called to get a rundown of the prices of what I ordered. I was thinking maybe the person who rung me up made a mistake, especially because she kept mentioning her register was being weird. The woman on the phone explained the pricing and told me it was $3+ for each of the cream cheeses. I told her I didn’t get two portions, but rather half of each. She then very unkindly said “then I suggest you find a new bagel place”. What a disappointing experience from a place that actually has good bagels. Guess I’ll take her suggestion, and I suggest others...

It makes me so sad to be submitting this review. I used to love this place and had rated it 5 stars but, within the past few months so many things have changed for the worse. I emailed the company asking them about the changes and they never responded. Their care for their customers is obviously nonexistent. The quality of their products has gone down and the price has gone up. Without any explanation. The least they could’ve done is post a note up explaining to customers what changes to expect and why. They used to give you an amazing helping of cream cheese and now they give you the amount any other place will, but charge more. They used to wrap the bagels in paper and now they wrap them in foil (so bad for the environment). Many times I came and had inconsistencies with my coffee and bagels. Ex: One day, I ordered two coffees, one was perfect and the other one was so watery. So sad to see things...

I stopped by here this morning to get a blueberry bagel. I was going to pick up an online order for my wife across the street so I parked in the plaza this place is at. There more parking here than the street parking so I prefer that. I came in the morning so they were not busy at all and it was raining. This place has outdoor seating and also inside seating. There also a little stage area for musicians to come play at. I looked at their menu first to see if anything look appealing to me but the prices for the smoothie is on the higher end. So I stuck with the blueberry bagel and asked for cream cheese on the side because if you don't then they'll put a lot on the bagel. The price for the cream cheese is almost the same as the bagel so be aware. I thought my bagel was good especially with it being toasted and adding a little cream cheese. I would come back again if I'm in the area.

THE BEST COFFEE! Their house blend from New Guinea is so flavorful, smooth and aromatic just by itself, you don't want to smother it with flavored creamers or sweeteners. And I LOVE their cheese bagels, so soft and tasty! They've really expanded their menu with all sorts of breakfast and lunch choices, salads, soups and pastries plus adding an outdoor dining area. One of those neighborhood gems that has so many new additions that I thought it was a brand new restaurant instead of the New York Bagel Cafe that's been around for nine years! I should mention that prices are fairly reasonable but my tabs add up because I take home extra dishes, buy house blend coffee beans or bagels (especially the yummy cheese bagels!) to go when I dine in.
