This place is by far one of my favorites in Boyle Heights.
I absolutely love their deep fried quesadillas and the variety of ingredients that they have available. For those who are vegetarian, you are not limited to only cheese as they also serve mushrooms.
I haven't tried all of their meats but I have tried their asada, al pastor, chorizo, chicharrón seco and tinga. All of them were delicious and you can't really go wrong with them. I definitely like the fact that their chorizo isn't very greasy, it is still greasy but not as much in comparison to other places I've been to. Also, their al pastor is on the crispy side, and I know that that isn't for everyone, so just be aware.
They handmake the masa for both the quesadillas and the huaraches, but not the sopes, burritos or tacos. And while the other options are still good, there are definitely other places at a similar price point that offer, for example, handmade masa for the tacos.
While I appreciate the fact that they have aguas frescas, they are the machine made ones (not my favorite). They don't seem to have any other options such as water or soda, but I might be absolutely wrong.
They definitely have a wide range of sides. For example, they offer pickled red onions and cucumbers. I myself prefer freshly cut cucumbers versus pickled cucumbers, I just don't like the gooey consistency when they are pickled. And yes, they have plenty of limes.
The deep fried quesadilla also comes with lettuce, sour cream, and cheese. They can definitely put everything on the side in case, you decide to pick it up and take it back home to eat so that the toppings do not get warm and nasty. They do have utensils that they provide you with for certain dishes like the quesadilla. But, you can request utensils if needed.
I ordered two tacos and a deep fried quesadilla, and I believe my total was about $16. They don't automatically give you a receipt, and I'm not even sure that they would be able to provide you one if you asked for one lol.
The customer service is impeccable, everyone is super nice and attentive to taking your order. The guy who took my order made a fabulous suggestion on what I should eat, he did not disappoint. I was suggested to try the deep fried quesadilla with both the dry chicharron and also the tinga. It was pretty delicious, and having a little bit of the crunch from the dry chicharron was perfect!
This place is cash only, which is pretty typical to other food trucks around here.
Parking in the area can be quite difficult. There is a small mechanic shop in front of the truck that they use for parking. Street parking can be very difficult, street parking is all metered.
They do put out some seats and tables for anyone who wants to eat on location.
Overall, I would give this place an 8.5 out of 10. Definitely one of my favorites,...
Read moreThis place is located in a parking lot of an auto shop. The area is relatively clean but you are in an autoshop parking. Parking can be hard to find. There are standing tables for you to enjoy your food but no seats. I like how the salsas are placed in a ketchup pump versus a giant metal pan w a scooper. Less mess and much more hygienic. I.e. no bugs in the salsa! Food is really fresh and made on order. Also not as greasy as other taco trucks. I guess this is a good or bad thing depending on the person lol. I had the quesadilla and it is very filling. It had queso, sour cream, crumbled cotija cheese, lettuce and cabeza. Super delicious and made of corn tortilla. We also had two tacos de asada and a horchata drink. Everything was delicious. Total price was 16. Not a bad price. Overall we really liked eating here and we would...
