Qtea Boba — Restaurant in Los Angeles

This used to be one of my go-to boba spots since I live down the street. Yesterday I came in as usual, placed my drink order, and tipped 20%. My drink came out wrong (there was no boba in it), and when I shared the mistake, the staff told me I had to pay extra to add boba. I explained that I ordered a boba drink, and no boba came, and they said that adding boba is still going to cost me extra. I explained that I already tipped 20% on my order (which was double the price of adding boba). They did not care and would not let me leave with my drink unless I paid extra money to add Boba to a drink that was supposed to come with Boba included. I don't usually leave reviews, but I am leaving this today in the hopes that the staff see it and do better with future customers because this customer experience was not only dismissive and rude, but I feel completely ripped off and never want to come...

Finally! The first A-Grade Boba spot for boba enthusiasts in this part of the Valley! The classic boba/tapioca is super fresh & soft - top-tier! I had the classic milk tea (non-dairy creamer) with brown sugar boba, cheese cream top, 25% ice, 75% sweet. Tastes like real tea - nice! I like the size of the drink & the fact that it's not overly fake sweet - most other boba places I feel blown away / overly full & bloated by the drink size - Qtea is perfect for a snack or dessert, and you can always size up if you want. Many other boba places, the sweetness is overpowering & fake-tasting - at 75% Qtea has it just right & it tastes refreshing! I like that the cheese cream has a classic cheesecake-like flavor too! It's a bonus that there's lots of street parking around the block too. Yay! I look forward to coming back...

I've been here a few times now with my partner as we enjoy supporting smaller businesses as artists and its right by our house... I have enjoyed my drink the past few times and the environment is usually very relaxed, but this past time we went in, we were glared at and up and downed like criminals despite being kind, our drinks were made way too sweet and way too bitter in the other instance. It was obvious we were not wanted in there. For what we paid, it feels like our drinks were made intentionally bad and we were returning customers just trying to support a new business.

If you rea LGBTQ+ or dress alternatively, just avoid this place. Won't be returning here when we could be treated much better elsewhere.
