At the risk of sounding like "that person" I love Thailand and have spent a decent amount of time there, so I have had my fair share of Thai food and I naturally tend to compare Thai food I have over there to my experiences in Thailand. Ordered two of my favorite dishes; Khao Soi and Pad Kra Pao as well as noodles for my drunken noodle loving sister and fried rice for the child, and spice intolerant adult. I'm going to go ahead and say it; I've had Khao Soi a good handful of times during my time in Chaing Mai and this one is right up there! Served with the traditional accompaniments: raw onion, pickled mustard greens, fried noodles, and Thai chilies to spice it up. The broth was hearty and warm; Khao soi is so unique from southern Thai curries that if you have not tried it I cannot recommend it enough. This was an excellent example of this fragrant northern Thai dish.
The drunken noodles were good and everyone agreed we enjoyed them more than other drunken noodles we have had from competitors.
Now for the Pad Kra Pao; very good for sure. I have yet to find one that is comparable to what I've had in Thailand but if you have ever had it there you would know the amount of Thai basil that goes into the dish would just not be cost effective here where I have to imagine basil is more expensive. Furthermore the dish uses A LOT of fresh Thai chilies and I do not believe the American palate is equipped to handle the heat. So I do believe it is not Sirit's fault that the dish fell short of my expectations, but rather need to cater to their audience as well as make sure the dish is affordable. Luckily for me I head to Vietnam tomorrow and naturally no trip to SEA would be complete without a stop in Bangkok so my cravings will be fulfilled soon enough.
That being said the food was quite good and I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for tasty and...
Read moreHave been coming here since it's opened. I absolutely love their food and it's always my go-to comfort food. Their Pad Thai is really something special. Whenever I go to another Thai place I'm always disappointed that it doesn't compare to Sirinat Thai. All their curries and other noodle dishes are always great, and now that they've expanded to sushi too, I've tried a few rolls and they're consistently tasty. My biggest complaint is that since they've remodeled, picking up food for takeout has gotten really confusing. They have a sign that says wait to be seated, so sometimes you get stuck behind people waiting for seating. Then if you walk past them you might get some really dirty looks... Then if I come before the food's ready, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to sit and wait or stand there at the counter. I've asked a few times, but never get a straight answer. I know it's probably a little thing, but I've actually come less since the remodel because of it. Maybe they should put up a sign or straighten out their protocol? Anyway, the food is good enough to just...
Read moreWe just moved to the area and this is the nearest Thai restaurant. The first time we ordered out it was good. We had Pad Thai and Tom Kha with chicken and veggies. It was standard Thai and we were impressed. The second time we ordered, the Tom Kha was completely different. It had very little chicken & lots of rubbery onions and mushrooms but no other veggies. The third time which will be our last time, I ordered ahead and arrived at the pickup time. It wasn’t ready so I waited for 10 minutes until they told me they were out of the noodles in the dish I ordered. I asked them to just refund me for that dish because I didn’t want to wait. I got home and the order was wrong. The brown rice we ordered was accurately written on the box but was filled with white rice. The curry dish which was $20 had very little chicken in it, I’d say about a 2 oz. of chicken total which for 20 bucks is a rip off and it was lukewarm. The rice was cold. So yeah sadly that will be our last time ordering...
