Food was average, I ordered the western eggs Benedict with seared potatoes. In my opinion, this is just a bad food item with the exception of the potatoes. It's scrambled eggs with country gravy over sausages and bacon on top of toasted English muffins from what I recollect.
This set of flavors doesn't work in my opinion, the gravy needed more flavor given that all it seemed to offer was moisture. The scrambled eggs don't work because whilst it was fluffy it was too uniform in flavor and it doesn't work for Benedicts in my opinion, poached eggs work because the runny yolk helps flavor everything else but scrambled eggs don't benefit from this and neither does anything else. My best assumption was it was to fit a theme and that shouldn't come at the cost of flavor. Sausages and bacon were your normal fare, nothing special about it. If you have had one you have had them all, to specify the flavor it was highly reminiscent of those Jimmy Dean mini sausages. The bacon was fried and that's about it, it wasn't crispy, savory, or otherwise memorable. All in all a bad dish made to fit a theme without hitting the original goal of flavors that would help it excel or adding anything to make the flavors mesh better in this type of meal.
The seared potatoes were good, but as a side it's disappointing when it outshines the Benedict it came with. It is served with a cup of sauce that I can only assume was ketchup despite not using it. The potatoes were flavored well enough from being seared and served with caramelized onions. All in all, a good side that unfortunately outshines the Benedict it came with.
Prior to the benedict, assuming you are dining in, you are also offered chips with salsa, on the house (no charge). The chips are very nice and toasty. The salsa is also very nice, however, as someone with low spice tolerance, I can only say it would be nice if there was an option that was not as spicy.
Staff was polite, and the restaurant was pleasant.
In the end, I have some recommendations provided the owners ever see this review and wish to alter anything. Regarding the potatoes, you don't need to change anything they came out well and tasted delicious. Regarding the Western Benedict, either scrap the dish and the concept or altar the key components of the sauce to make it a better dish. Namely improve the gravy and eggs regarding flavor, if necessary switch to poached eggs or better flavor the eggs and/ or gravy so it can mesh better with the meats. Regarding sausage and bacon, if you can make your own mix or sausages you can better adjust the flavors you want it to have. Regarding the Bacon, adjustments to how it is prepared can be made to ensure better crispiness and flavor. A tip I have found interesting, yet have not tried, is to parfry your bacon and finish it in a microwave. Although with experimentation it is likely you will be able to concoct a better method for your bacon than what I...
Read moreDiscovered this gem of a place when looking for a cute breakfast spot while staying nearby. We were immediately welcomed when we walked in and they were so nice! We had our pick of seats at 9am on a Sunday and sat in the back courtyard, but when we left a little after 10am it was busier, seems like a local hotspot. They started us off with complimentary chips and salsa while we browsed the menu. Everything was delicious, service was great, and atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area! I highly recommend the vampiro juice, cinnamon roll pancakes and plantains! I ate the pancake combo for breakfast substituting the potatoes with plantains and it was great, wish I could've finished it, but it was...
Read moreI visited Mexican T C Organic after reading great reviews about their chilaquiles, but my experience was extremely disappointing. As a Mexican, I can say with certainty that the food here doesn’t taste authentic at all. We tried the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, and both were terrible.
The chilaquiles were especially bad— the tortillas tasted old, and the salsa was more like flavored water with absolutely no spice or flavor the tortillas also taste old. The huevos rancheros were just as bland, with the same watery salsa and no seasoning. I expected much better from a place with such good reviews, but this was far from real Mexican food. I definitely do not recommend Mexican T C Organic if you’re looking for authentic...
