I’m glad this place is here for a convenient pastry fix in the neighborhood but they are a few rungs down from the best pastries in Los Angeles. Good egg sando and avocado tartine, sadly the amazing mushroom reuben has been taken off the menu. Sometimes the pastry selection leaves something to be desired. The blueberry buckwheat scone is good but I’ve had it too many times. I wish they’d make other flavors like they used too (like the delicious chocolate cherry sesame scone that I haven’t seen in a couple years). I wish the morning bun didn’t have citrus zest in it, kind of takes over and kills the vibe. The tea cakes are so dry and weird tasting I don’t understand how they can sell something so awful right next to their gorgeous croissants. The pies are solid but rarely available. The hand pies are a total joke because every time I buy one it’s pretty much empty inside, like all the filling leaked out. This has happened multiple times and the pastry itself is too soft, it needs to be firmer and crustier. The loaves of bread shine bright so def take one home with you. All in all it’s kind of a mixed bag, not everything is amazing but the good stuff is worth it. EDIT: was super stoked to see a new scone on the menu after years of the same blueberry scone. Sadly it was a disappointment as the strawberry walnut scone contains a meager dollop of strawberry jam in the center, providing a couple good bites and a mostly bland majority, unaided by the fact that I detected walnuts in exactly one bite out of the...
Read moreSince they don’t pick up the phone, you can only order it online. So I did! I placed a simple order. Just a loft of their sesame seed bread. I got a text to confirm the order and it said I will get another text once the order is ready. I never got any text, so I chanced it and drove 30mins hoping that they will still have some left. Got there, and there was only one left! I told him that I place the order online but never got any text saying it was ready. Then he looked at the places orders behind him and mine was there. Picked it up and by they time I got home, I got the text saying my order is ready for pick up.
One star for not having the option to talk to someone at the restaurant. The...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars to this place, I would! The prices they charge for coffee & pastries are outrageous, you'd expect better quality food & customer service. I ordered a $16 quiche (overpriced) & it was clearly refrigerated & cold. When I asked if it could be heated, I was talked down to by one of their staff members saying they don't do that!! Also the coffee was cold. I used to stop by this place on my way to work but I will NO longer be going there. I know people who live in the building above this bakery & they have also complained that the staff is very rude & dismissive of them. Please do not go here, its...
