Masudaya exceeded my expectation for taste and warm service from the beginning. The restaurant really feels like a small family business and you always walk away happy and full. I’m not gonna lie I go there because the owner reminds me of my own late mother with her bright smile and personality. The tiger roll will not disappoint. The chicken and beef teriyaki are better than most places. Chicken Katsu has a unique crunch and flavor that will pleasantly surprise you. The egg roll and fried dumplings are competent. Ive been coming here for 30 years, since I was a kid. I moved away from the area and havent been back in over ten years, but it was one of the gems I was looking forward to visiting, if it was still standing. To my absolute delight, the Teriyaki Masudaya is still standing! I had the pleasure of stopping by last week to eat my favorite there, their house plate with beef, chicken, and prawn alongside a salad with their signature dressing.. and I was so happy to find that the recipes have been passed down from the original owners, tastes just as good as I remember. I thought of this place while making a Teriyaki Chicken bowl for my family dinner. I started eating at this place when I was a teenager, right after he opened.

It was the owner, and a cook, and that was it. This place inspired me to learn how to cook these types of dishes, because sadly i moved out of California in 1992.
