I love the vibe of this cafe. It has everything that I look for in a cafe but there are a couple of reasons I gave them a 3 stars. But Iโll get there at the end.
First, the coffee is good. They have a variety of preparations from their drip coffee to lattes. I had the regular drip coffee with the recommended in house vanilla syrup on my first visit then a dirty chai latte with oat milk on my third visit. I believe they only serve blond roasts, which has a lighter coffee taste but more the caffeine. Second, the environment is great. Love the patio area. You are surrounded by plants that gives it a garden calm vibe. When you first walk in, you are greeted with modern furnitures and an a awesome huge mountain moral. Itโs well fitting for the cafeโs name. Iโm a outdoor guy so it really fits my style. Lastly, a lot of parking and a lot of table sitting with outlets. Should I say more?
But there are couple of things that I didnโt like. One, the Wi-Fi here is a struggle. Iโve been here 3x and each time has been a struggle. Connection isnโt strong and inconsistent. I wanted to stay longer but the Wi-Fi connection really put a bad taste. Second, staff are friendly however it took me 3 visits to finally get stamp card. Iโm all for promotions and incentives.
Iโm probably being too harsh with a 3 star rating but there are elements I look for in a cafe as a college student and a person working...
ย ย ย Read moreOn information from a friend, I visited Yonder Coffee, a little coffee bar in the Albertsons shopping center on Balboa at Nordhoff. When I walked in at about 9:30am, there was a line and with 4 (or 5?) people behind the counter, the staff was HOPPING! I thought, 'coffee must be good here.' I was RIGHT!
I orderd one of the seasonal teas they offer , Maple Hojicha Latte. Wow... what a difference from the giant chains with their ikky syrups. This matcha tea blend was so delicious and was beautifully made with a fancy design in the foam.
I also enjoyed a pepperjack turkey croissant... yummy!
My ONLY criticism is there's only the one size (for me there is no such thing as a drink that's too large!) I would love to see them have at least 20oz option. Do I have a drinking problem? Yes, but not the bad kind......
ย ย ย Read moreThe coffee is very very good. No complaints. In fact, all praise! I had an espresso tonic and it was perfectly balanced and great flavor. Purely based on coffee, it's a great place and I recommend it.
The issue here is the price. I know everything is expensive now, but I paid $8.78 for a 12oz coffee. If it was a 24oz then sure - even then it'd be pushing it, but 9 bucks for a 12oz iced drink, simply feels like too much to me. Do with that what you will.
The place itself is cute, they have an outdoorsy theme going on and have some merch. It isn't super clean though. Wasn't a game changer, but definitely noticeable.
I'll probably revisit at some point because my drink was really good, but I will not allow myself to go regularly because spending $9 on a 12oz coffee feels...
