We visited Lou's today, having been told in the past that this was a nice place to dine. That could not have been more untrue; quite the opposite. Perhaps a new owner took over at some point, and the place has now become substandard.
When my party and I entered the restaurant, we noticed three staff members chatting with each other near a table at the back. They saw us but continued to chat without acknowledging us. Eventually, one of them approached us and directed us to a small table in a dark corner. When we asked to sit at a more desirable table, she agreed, and we were seated there. We were not welcomed into the restaurant; instead, menus were left on the table, and the employee walked away, never asking if we wanted anything to drink, etc.
After that, we waited about 15 minutes before someone came by to take our order; as the minutes ticked by, we talked about leaving rather than staying to dine there. In the meantime, we watched various employees standing near the kitchen or chatting with others before someone finally came over to take our order. The server, having taken our order, took off without allowing us to place a beverage order. So we waited yet again before being allowed to order drinks. It should be noted that after we were finally served our iced tea, there was a point when we requested a refill, but that never happened. We tried to flag someone down, our server or the busboy, but we were rebuffed.
After a few minutes, our drinks arrived, followed by our food. However, the two side dishes we ordered were not brought to the table simultaneously. When I inquired about the missing side order of toast, the server seemed annoyed. When the toast finally showed up, it was only half-toasted; one half of each bread slice was toasted, while the other half was untoasted white bread. The ham and cheese omelet was unlike any I've had, as the cheese was placed on top (two thin slices of American cheese) of the omelet rather than being placed inside. The little ham inside lacked flavor, resulting in a bland experience. As requested, the hash browns were crispy but lacked discernible flavor and were oddly shaped like a perfect rectangle. My wife ordered a side of pico de gallo, composed of mostly diced pieces of tomato, which was basically flavorless.
To sum it up, our food lacked flavor, and the service was inattentive and lazy. Many restaurants in our area offer the same type of menu, restaurants where we are treated well and attentively, and the food is good. We won't be returning...
Read moreI invited my brother to celebrate his birthday at Lou's. I informed the hostess that it was going to be a party of 6 and she was very accommodating.
The huevos rancheros, fresh squeezed orange juice and atmosphere were great. I however made the unfortunate "mistake" of ordering Swedish pancakes/crapes that I saw were served at the table across from me. I pointed out to Natalie (our waitress) that it was exactly what I wanted it but instead of Nutella, I wanted them with strawberries on top, and that I needed them to come at the very end after we were done with eating the rest of our food.
First of all, the pancakes came too early and I then noticed that the kitchen had served me regular pancakes which I asked in a neutral tone to please be corrected as it was not what I had ordered.
Complying with my request Natalie took my plate back to the kitchen and in came Mariquita "the Pancake Na($&)zi" displaying an aggressive body language. I tried to explain that I had ordered Swedish pancakes/crepes and wanted the thin crepe-style kind of pancakes instead. She had no clue what I was talking about. Instead she was making a big deal bringing the plate back from kitchen and shoving it next to my face, letting me know of course that I committed the ultimate cardinal sin. Mariquita was acting as if I was swapping a $40 filet mignon plate for Caesar salad and she wanted to make an example out of me.
As she was hammering the last nail on my cross, I mustered enough strength to cancel my order, she was rude the whole time. I used my last living breath to ask for her name, I didn't want to die without knowing the name of my punisher, but she just rolled her eyes at me and walked away. A Good Samaritan named "Pablo" offered more fresh coffee, cleaned my wounds, and rekindle the fighting spirit within me. I thanked this gentle knight for saving me from the wrath of that ugly ogre. He revealed the names of our waitress and the jackal lady named Mariquita. After he left, I witnessed how he was berated by Mariquita for disclosing their names.
The terrible customer service from "Mariquita" doesn't reflect the rest of the team. The owner should bring it up to her attention.
I've live in Los Gatos for 15 years and this was my 5th time at Lou's. I'm very very disappointed to say the least. I don't think I will ever come...
Read moreThe breakfast is spot on and most of the servers are usually very kind. I decided to bring my parents here who were coming from overseas. The guy who greeted us was kind and sat us on the table quickly. Unfortunately, we got a lady server who was very rude and arrogant. It seemed like she had a superiority complex or was having a bad morning and was targeting my family for whatever reason. She was fussing over my mom’s bag that’s on a chair and saying that the chair with the bag in it is in the way. The chair was pushed in and is where it normally would be if the chairs were all filled with people at the large table. She was really nitpicking my family with beady eyes and critical voice. She took our orders in the most rude manner, huffing and puffing as we said our orders and wouldn’t even let us finish ordering. Who does that?! My parents told me it’s nothing to fuss about but I considered it really disrespectful. We were initially seated at a large table but when we saw that another large party was coming in, we requested to be reseated at a smaller table to accommodate the larger party. The kind man thanked us and reseated us. I was hopeful that we would no longer get unfriendly behavior from the lady server. And yet again she comes and just puts the food on the table with no word. She didn’t ask to refill our coffee or waters. I saw that all the chairs were filled in with people at the large table but the lady server with the black hair didn’t complain about any of the chairs being in the way of traffic. When it came time to bring the check, she was hovering over me like a helicopter while I was trying to input the tip amount. Please know that the tip was for the kind man and not for the lady server with...
