Banh Mi Boys is the best place to try banh mi for the first time or to get your fix if you're already hooked.
The food is so good and the people are so friendly we decided to go back again for casual date night two days after our first visit earlier in the week!
I love the wall art that shows exactly what goes on a banh mi sandwich, and I really appreciate their patience and helpful suggestions while I decided what to try for my very first "Vietnamese po' boy."
The Bang Bang Shrimp is very popular, but if you don't like mayo-based sauces, definitely go for the Honey Sirracha Shrimp! Soooo good =D
I decided to try the Grilled Shrimp Salad my second visit since I'm trying to cut back, but the peanut sauce and fresh herbs and veggies made it taste just as yummy - like banh mi without the bread!
I also didn't hesitate to order the Green Matcha Milk Tea again. It's my new summer favorite - so refreshing! (If you've never had milk tea, the way they make it at BMB is kind of like a smoothie and comes in an extra large to-go cup).
My Cajun companion tried the Grilled Chicken Banh Mi with extra meat (still under $10). He loved it, but we both agree the BMB Shrimp is the best - so tender and juicy, cooked to perfection and seasoned with the most amazing flavors!
If you are vegetarian, they also have banh mi and other dishes prepared with tofu or eggplant. They all sound yummy, but unless I find out I'm allergic, I'm sticking with my BMB shrimp!
I can't believe it took me this long to take my Google Assistant's advice to give Banh Mi Boys a try! BMB has gotten rave reviews in lots of foodie blogs too, so when Google told me it was nearby (right next to Texaco at Airline and Transcontinental), I knew I had to check it out.
There were lots of regulars coming in and out to pick up take-out orders, and I was impressed that the staff recognized them all. I felt special when they knew who I was too on just my second visit 💜
Feeling so lucky right now that I'm local because Banh Mi Boys is my new favorite spot! #NuttieFoodie

Read moreUpdate 07/2022... I just want to give this restaurant,it's workers, and owners the credit they are due. I've eaten here every single time I pass through NOLA. Sometimes daily while I'm visiting. The food here is always fresh and just has flavors beyond the norm. I typically order the Bulgogi as well as other items in case I forgot what it tasted like the last time and it never fails to be fresh and tasty. The white chocolate bread pudding is one of a kind. This evening I ventured in and saw they also had a new ice cream. I order the Lil blue men and it was very delicious. The bread is so fresh with the banh mi and the k town fries melt in your mouth. If you haven't tried this place, please do, you won't be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you want to try something you're unsure of.
This restaurant is ridiculously OUTSTANDING! I can't stress that enough. I ordered five different sandwiches, an order of seasoned fries, the K-town fries and the gooey bread pudding. Both fries were amazing. The sauce was top notch full of flavor. The shrimp and garlic ban mi was absolutely delicious. The spicy asian bbq beef banh mi was perfect, with a little bit of spice and asian veggies were sweet and fresh. My personal favorite was absolutely the bulgogi beef banh mi. That sandwich is the Korean or vietnamese version of a philly cheesesteak. The meat is so tender with the perfected blend of sweet and spicy. It literally melts in your mouth. The bread pudding was also insanely good. I would 100% eat here daily if I could. OMG so so so good. Thank you for the tasty tasty authentic...
Read moreI've had my eyes on Banh Mi Boys for months and couldn't wait to taste the food. Well, the food was just average to me. That's not a bad thing, but I don't think the food lived up to the hype of most of the reviews. I ordered the Spicy Asian BBQ Brisket Banh Mi. The $14 cost threw me back initially, but it was huge! Two people can definitely eat off of it and share an order of fries. Back to the sandwich, it's advertised as the brisket being smoked for 24 hours. No way, it wasn't 24 hour tender. Then again, maybe it was cut wrong?? There was a lot of meat on the sandwich but I had to take the tough pieces off. I was hoping for more flavor in the meat, but I only tasted the smoked taste and the Asian sauce. All of that to say, the sandwich has potential...cut the meat smaller, season it some, add more Asian sauce and it will probably be really good. I did appreciate the fresh toppings, they were delicious. Now let's talk about the Cajun Crack Fries. I should have just gotten regular fries lol. I wasn't feeling the fried chicken skin because it wasn't crispy enough...and there was way too much flamin hot crumble. I think they crumbled an entire family size bag of cheetos on my fries lol. The actual fries had a great taste, so there's no need to add all of the extra stuff to it. Maybe I'll give it another try and see how another Banh Mi tastes, I...
