One star really should be an option. First, I would NEVER voluntarily go to Denny's, but I was with my parents and they wanted it. We got there a little before 11am on a Thursday. There was hardly anyone else in there. I knew it was going to go badly when we weren't acknowledged while standing at the "please wait to be seated" sign for a solid 5 minutes. I had an appointment at 12:30 about 10-15 minutes away. That gave us approximately an hour and 15 minutes, which should have been plenty enough time. This is not fine dining, after all. The short story is that by 5 after 12, our food still had not arrived and we had to ask for it to go. We STILL didn't get it till about 12:15, even after explaining that we are now on a time crunch. I felt sorry for our server, as she was elderly and clearly had a very hard time walking. I saw her stop to catch her breath several times. I'm sorry she has to work so hard in her condition, but THIS IS NOT THE JOB FOR HER. The manager mumbled something about someone not showing up, which is unfortunate, but this went beyond a long wait. We asked multiple times what seemed to be the problem. I will starve before I go back there. My dad even swore it off, thank goodness!!! On the plus side, the manager did take $8 off our bill (strange amount but whatever). Rookie mistake on my part, but I didn't check the bags before we left because I was now on the verge of being late for my appointment. I checked them in the car only to find they forgot part of what I ordered, and we had no time to go back, so subtracting the 8 bucks was pretty meaningless. BTW, our orders were super simple, no special requests. I've never written a long review before, but you really should be warned. JUST...
Read moreThe waiter service was prompt, attentive, friendly and provided approriate knowledgeable answers to our inquires. His service was caring, professional and with Southern charm. All you could want and admire for quality waiter service was provided by this particular staff member. My wife and I also appreciated that a management staff member came to our table and each table to first confirm that the Service was to our satisfaction and secondly if no one was at a table and there were plates, etc. on the table she picked them up and brought them to theappropriate area for cleaning, etc. This impressed us sine at other restaurants the manager would pass the table or get someone else to remove the plates, etc. This management staff person per what I saw would be someone I would hire if I was not retired. The quality and portion of the food was not bad; however, not of the quality we cared to enjoy. We have not been at a Denny's for perhaps a couple or more years. In previously years we totally enjoyed and appreciated our meal & service. Service this time yes, meal was disappointing. Since there are so many restaurants available for us to enjoy, it may be a while before we retourn to Denny's. That is unfortunate since the management and waiter could benefit per our frequency of going to restaurants being both retirees, etc. Denny's could had benefitted not only per our direct Business in numerous ways, but also per our recommendation, currently disappointing, per other better total quality availability per other...
Read moreWe stopped by for breakfast. There was no one to seat us although a couple of servers said they would be right back. They weren't. Finally after several minutes we told a server we were taking the booth near the line of people waiting to get in. Our server wanted us to order before we were given menus. She finally handed us menus but demanded we order our drinks right then. The coffee tasted as if it had been left on a high flame for far too long. The server didn't come back for our order until we waved frantically at her. When I tried to tell her what kind of toast I wanted, she said " Yes, you get toast". My meal, which took way too long to arrive, was a cold greasy mess. My toast was not toasted but pale stale bread. My eggs were cold and rubbery. The so called ham was cold scraps of lunch meat and my hash browns were cold pale and very greasy. Since the coffee was so bad, I tried to have her replace it but she brought the same pot of coffee from which the first cup was poured. When I told her it was terrible she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I wanted to order another drink but she never returned. My husband got up and walked over to her and ordered an ice tea. It arrived after we were done eating. The place was so mismanaged. They were busy but there was plenty of staff and empty seating. I will not...
