This was the worst experience I have ever had. I typically don’t take the time to do reviews. However, if this saves others from the horrendous experience I had, it’s worth the time. I called in my order and asked for shrimp with broccoli. I was asked if I wanted an egg roll or Cho Cho. I opted for the Cho Cho. Upon returning home, I opened my food to discover I received a shrimp and broccoli combination plate with fried rice. Although I did not want a combination plate with fried rice, but instead wanted the entree which is served with white rice, for the sake of not wasting a trip back out, and in the interest of saving time, I attempted to just eat what was given. Upon tasting the food, I quickly discovered the rice was absolutely disgusting, stale and tasteless. I then also noticed, there were no Cho Chos included. While I had planned initially to just go ahead and chalk it up to a less than desirable eating experience, I decided at this point, this was unacceptable. As such, I proceeded to contact the restaurant to advise what happened. The female employee answered the phone and acknowledged she was the one who took the order and admitted she messed up the order. She then indicated I could come back and swap it out. I explained to her that would be a significant inconvenience, as I had limited time since I was scheduled to be someplace else soon. She indicated she could swap it out the next day if I brought the food back. I then explained to her, that would mean I now also would not have anything to eat ( as I had planned to salvage what little of the food I deemed remotely edible). She became dismissive, rude and unaccommodating, refusing to listen to reason. I then asked to speak to a manager and was told there was not one available. I then proceeded to return to the restaurant for a refund of my money. Upon entering the restaurant I observed the female employee engaged in conversation with a customer talking about me negatively. I will never return to this establishment. I will make sure to tell my friends, family, social media followers and any organizations with whom I’m affiliated to never patronize this horrible...
Read moreMy first time here; as soon as I walked in, I was in love with the place. I see too many of these little “take out only” Chinese restaurants that are lit by fluorescent lighting 🤮 and when I walked inside Empress of China, I knew I loved it. It was not bright inside, and Chinese mysic played softly in the background. So, immediately 10/10 for the atmosphere.
The service was outstanding! The server got to me quickly, very attentive, friendly, git everything right. The tables were all clean, and had a young man who took care of that immediately after the customers left and cleaned the table thoroughly.
I ordered the Mandarin Chicken. This is my “comfort food” at any Chinese restaurant. For those who don’t know this dish, it is boneless chicken (breast meat or thigh meat), breaded and deep fried… laid out onto a bed of lettuce, topped with brown sauce, and served with fried rice and your choice of egg roll, two veg spring rolls, crab rangoon, or chu chu (I think that’s mirliton but I’m not sure).
There was A LOT OF FOOD. They do not skimp on portions. Everything was great, except for the brown sauce. This one had cumin in it (I think it was cumin, it could have been another spice) and it really kind of ruined the flavor for me. I like cumin, but not really with that sauce. My only gripe… everything else was delicious, and next time I go I’ll get something else. I’m definitely going back, even though it is way out of the way for me.
I took lots of pictures, check them out. The place is just really nice on the inside… how a Chinese restaurant is supposed to be. Very...
Read moreMy aunt raved about this place. She was so off the mark. So sorry. I am sticking with China Doll. This was my first time ordering food from this restaurant. I ordered moo goo gai pan . It was okay . I ordered shrimp toast. It was overdone. And extraordinarily oily. The lettuce that is sat on was saturated with grease. The egg drop soup was gelatinous and not flavorful. T h e Walnut shrimp did not come with all of the fixings, not even walnuts! Everything was packed individually. Shrimp individually. All the ingredients that make a dish, individually. I called to complain since this dish was more than $15. I was informed that I could come back( another 20 minute drive for me) and get the vegetables and the sauce but not the shrimp. That's sort of like saying, ' oh well, we dropped the ball on getting your order right, but you can come back and get some bread and cheese but no meat.' Who came up with this trend in service?! Even the pizza parlor will remake your pizza over if they get it wrong! When I expressed my concern, to the person on the other end that It did not make me want to return, she replied without care, "That's okay." It used to be that word of mouth made a difference and that people cared about their reputation and quality of service or food that they sold. Smart businesses know that Customers are not dispensable.. but you will learn. I will not be...
