To start, I think the food is great. However, I was a bit hurt and disappointed by the service. Recently, I purchased some food to go. The gentleman handed me my to-go plate in a bag but it was short an order of fries and the au jus (that went with my order of the roast beef sandwich). I grabbed a few napkins from the bar because they were thicker and because I would be eating and driving (I had to drive to New Orleans) and didn't want to risk spilling the au jus and not having a thick enough napkin to catch everything. I placed the napkins in the bag; however, the gentleman took the bag (with my sandwich in it) back to the kitchen when I told them I was short the aforementioned food. When they returned, the order of fries and au jus was in the bag, but they replaced the napkins that I put in the bag with a couple of extremely thin and smaller set of napkins - that tear easily. Though it seems small, that experience left me very disappointed. I didn't feel valued as a customer and felt as if their napkins were worth more than my $18 sandwich, drink and fries. To say I make it a habit to stop off at John Michael's Good Eats when I'm coming to or from New Orleans, I doubt I'll...
Read moreMr. John, while you were friendly and helpful, upon walking into your establishment for the first time, we were greeted with very curt attitude and dry explanation to how your restaurant operates by your employee. I asked for a drink menu and was told there was none, but was directed to look at the selection on the shelf. Your beer taps were not in use, which is unfortunate because we checked reviews and photos before we came and I was looking forward to having that. I settled for some wine after you helped me see that you had some Sutter Home in the fridge. My shrimp pasta seemed like it was cooked two days ago and had been microwaved when I ordered it. The bill was also confusing as it did not match how your pricing is listed on your menu. I do appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I hope this honest feedback is helpful as we had really wanted your restaurant to match our...
Read moreToday we stopped for lunch at the new location. The menu changes have little impact on my opinion of this establishment, but we were disappointed that they decided to stop serving the variety of chips they previously offered. My big complaint is that they will now only give military discounts if you are in uniform. That policy is absolutely ridiculous. I recommend all military and first responders avoid this restaurant until they change the policy.
Response To Owner: So I guess we were lied to by your staff today when we asked for our military discount. We had our military identification. The staff told us that you were planning on stopping the availability of ALL chips. The "fries" you speak of are not french fries, but homemade chips with no seasoning. They were very plain. You also stopped serving nachos. Don't take away from a good menu,...
