The food is yummy, and it is reasonably priced. but that's it. When you walk through this restaurant's door, the staff all look at you as if you had broken into their house. Despite the place not being busy at all, nobody comes to greet you, nobody offers you a table, nothing. They just stare at you until you ask if you can sit wherever you want. The person who waited on me brought me the menu without greeting me, she just stood there, she didn't ask me if I wanted to order something to drink, nothing, she just awkardly stood there next to the table for about 30 seconds while I was trying to see how the menu was organized. She finally asked if I wanted something to drink. I ordered an agua de horchata and, since I saw her acting annoyed and impatient, I ordered a carne asada torta with fries. There was no smile, nothing to acknowledge that they appreciate having you as a customer. I went to the bathroom while they prepared my food, there was no soap, which is gross and always a red flag in a restaurant. It took them about 15-20 minutes to prepare my food despite the place being almost completely empty the first 20-30 minutes that I was there. The torta was delicious, the fries were perfect, that's why I gave this place 2 stars instead of only one. However, I felt that the waiting staff was treating me as if they were doing me a favor the whole time I was there. They never brought me any water, they never came by my table to ask if I needed a refill on my agua de horchata or if everything was ok with the food, nothing. Everyone, including the cashier, acted as if they'd rather not have you there, they act as if you were inconveniencing them. I will...
Read moreWhat a great place for breakfast.
I started off with the pork skin and cheese pupusas. The veggies were in a perfect gastrique. Slightly vinegar brine and fresh sliced carrots and onions? A nice slightly sweet fresh dipping sauce also. Perfectly offset the richness of the melted cheese. Fresh flour tortilla.
The Desayuno con Carne / Breakfast with Protein was an excellent scrambled egg at my request with steak. 2 fresh avocado slices. I added some salt to my refried beans.
The plantains were also off the chart excellent as was the scratch made flour tortilla.
The crèma and cheese slice were nice compliments.
All of this and a drink for $22 and would have fed 2 people !! I highly recommend these dishes. I will be back to try lunch next time.
This seemed like authentic Guatemalan style food but I’m not sure. Ordering was easy with the server who was very helpful and recommended both...
Read moreVery good food. We were too late for the buffet had the mixed skewer (beef, chicken and shrimp), a Gordita, and a pork tamale. Skewers had 3 color bell peppers an onions, rice and black refried beans. Masa for the tamale was excellent, and pork tender and very flavorful. Chunks are large, so if you like a little of everything on every bite. Break them up first.
Milder than most American Mexican and Tex Mex. Spices are more cumin, curry and milder peppers, not cayenne, paprika and chili powder. Food did not come fast, and server warned us that the skewers took time. Food prepared per order takes time. She brought us out everything as it became ready, which...
