Awful.
Ate there today, 7/23/25, for lunch. Absolutely nothing was fresh, as if the staff couldn't be bothered to chop up some tomatoes, onion and cilantro before open. We just moved to Watson and this place is nearby, but suffice to say we will never return.
I had the Burritos a La Parilla and was very unimpressed. I'm confident that the burritos were frozen and then flash fried - the tortilla ends were rubbery and had the rubbery texture of gum that you've been chewing on too long. The meat in both (steak and chicken) was dry and tasteless. To top it off, the pico that came with the meal was pale and colorless because that, too, was likely old.
My wife had the regular enchiladas and they were also bad. Contrasted from my chewy and dry burritos, the enchiladas were a soggy, sloppy mess. She also ordered a frozen margarita that was NOT frozen in the least.
The decor is tacky, with paper flowers strung from wall to wall and dying pothos plants hanging from the ceiling. The sign above the interior door is missing a huge chunk. Our booth seating was torn and cracked.
Would give 0 stars for the food, because it was legitimately terrible. You are being served LEFTOVERS.
7/27/25 Response to Owner: Unfortunately, the meal was so bad we will not be returning to your establishment. I highly doubt you use "the highest standards of food quality" considering we were very likely served reheated leftovers. The one thing that we did ask for frozen - the margarita - wasn't frozen, but the rest of our food probably was.
PS: You can't hide old pico. It was colorless, mushy, and had ZERO crispness. It...
Read moreA suburban Mexican restaurant in a strip mall, roomy, pleasantly decorated, with a patio for those who smoke, or possibly those who don't mind Louisiana's punishing-superego heat/humidity. (People who spend time outside in a Louisiana summer can no longer claim they don't believe in Purgatory.)
Food is delicious home-style Norteño (Tex-Mex), not too spicy, but salsa picante is available, as is complimentary chips with both warm and cool salsa. Beer, wine and mixed drinks are available. Prices are reasonable. Diners are families and working people, especially for the lunch menu.
There are the usual enchiladas, tamales, rellenos, all very good, but there are a number of specialties which are unexpected delights. Do not hesitate to try the charro beans (instead of the refried beans), the soups (chicken/seafood), ceviche (raw pickled seafood), carne asada (tender pork chunks), and the many seafood dishes (fish, shrimp and crawfish). The fish tacos are great. There are "American" dishes--hamburgers, steaks, and so on, all of which are fine examples of their genre.
There are daily specials, which always good, and often outstandingly delicious. Be bold, order whatever you like. I've always done that, and I've never regretted it.
By the way, come as you are--I see a lot of jeans, tee shirts...
Read moreMy first experience here was overall decent and we decided to go back. Our second experience included people in our party not getting asked what they wanted to drink for 20-30 minutes, and some having to ask multiple times. No chips and salsa served to half of the table, even bringing out my queso with no chips to eat it with. I asked for salt over and over, and finally went inside to get salt but it was a salt shaker filled with sugar… After about an hour seated, we were able to order. Almost everyone’s order came out incorrect, some (mine) food was forgotten, and some people’s food didn’t come at all. After being there for nearly 2.5 hours, I finally received my tacos.
To top it off, the server had no idea who ordered what to separate the checks. A patron from our group had to write down what everyone had so we could get our appropriate checks. My card was not only charged for my food, but also for another member of our party….since the restaurant was now closed and we were all disgruntled, my friend just sent me the money instead of having them refund to my card. This was extremely chaotic and unprofessional, as we had made reservations and they knew...
