Super disappointed in my visit. I frequently visit the Gonzalez location when I'm in town. This week I was staying in Baton Rouge and was excited that they had a location close to me. I look at Google before I leave and clearly see they close at 6 so I rushed over there and walked in door at 420 to see just about all the chairs put up already!!! Really an hour and a half early??? Upon walking the first the the person taking my order says "To go?". I responded no I'm eating in if ok. I ordered the jambalaya dinner and wanted white beans which apparently were all out. So i just picked 2 other sides. Next I told the lady I wanted red beans and rice with a sausage link. She ask if i wanted a drink I said yes I want a drink so I can get tea. Grab my cup and go to get tea. Both containers are completely bone dry with spickets off and lids off so I ended up paying for tap water. I get my food the jambalaya was super dry, and there was barely any sausage or chicken. Next I open my red beans rice and no sausage link. I told the lady I had no sausage link and she says the bowl don't have one. I NEVER ORDERED A BOWL!! I TOLD HER EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!! To me just horrible visit and night and day from the one in Gonzalez. Just felt like I was super rushed and an inconvenience even being there 1 hour and 40 minutes before closure. Not sure if same owner but this place needs a little training. The only reason I gave 3 stars on service because the lady was nice and ended up giving me a sausage link when I went back up and...
Read moreQuiet, clean friendly place, but no where near Cajun food to me. Gumbo is bland, no real ingredients in it but chicken and sausage which isn't even spicy, has a gravy taste not a real gumbo flare taste. Jambalaya is ok, but over cooked to me, real mushy! I love fluffy rice, not mashed together. I don't believe in spending money in places who can't season food or live up to real Cajun food when that's what you specialized in. The white beans was the only item that was good to me, it had more flavor then the gumbo. The potatoe salad wasn't what I call potatoe salad at all, weird taste/texture. I won't be going back unless I have a taste for the white beans. Can't speak for the whole menu, but that is what I got and wasn't pleased!!! Gumbo have no shrimp, okra, crab or any real gumbo tasty ingredients. There are frozen and shelf gumbo that is better than this place. Don't know who cooks and who agreed on the collaboration of the flavor and menu, but they need to start over and train their taste buds. There are other places that have real Cajun food that I would pay for, so not up to my standards at all!! I tried this place because some people talked about it, but everyone everyone has different taste and really don't know real Cajun food! This is assisted...
Read moreThe restaurant looks very nice and clean in the inside and it smelled good when I walked in which is a great thing. BUT the GUMBO WAS WATERY!!!! I can tell that rue was not made right especially I can tell they don’t use the holy trinity in their rue such as chopped onions, bell peppers, and celery. That rue was SOUP and just taste salty! It was a very Lazy Gumbo. Never should the Hospital Gumbo have more flavor than a restaurant. The Jambalaya was good but that too was a bit salty. The potato salad was bland and so was the red beans. I am sorry to say but this is why Cajun and creole restaurants are dying in Louisiana because people are not putting enough effort into the cooking no more. All this food takes time and love for the culture but if you just in it for the money one can easily mess up a good thing. Fast food is winning in Louisiana because soo many people today don’t have the heart to cook good Louisiana food no more and that’s...
