Short Stop Poboys, located in Metairie, Louisiana, is a restaurant that dares to dream big with its diverse selection of poboys for lunch and dinner. We purchased two regular shrimp poboys that were generous in length and overflowing with small, lightly battered shrimp. The portion size is truly satisfying. The French bread was light and airy, with pieces carefully removed to create a hollow that perfectly accommodated the generous shrimp filling. The primary flavor on the shrimp was not a seasoning blend but just plain salt and the poboys were dressed with a few tomato slices, shredded lettuce, and mayonnaise applied with a delicate touch. Although the service and ambiance were good, the food has the potential to soar to even greater heights. The flavor was decent, but the bread could benefit from additional condiments, as it was somewhat dry. Notably, the restaurant does not provide condiment packets for customers who wish to take some with them. However, I firmly believe it is worth a visit.

Growing up in the city will sometimes make you think the best food in the area is only there, but Short Stop Poboys might be one of the the better poboys Ive ever eaten outside of the city. The service and atmosphere were perfect and they have a lot of local items like ROMAN CANDY and ZAPPS !!! that will keep me coming back. The Shrimp Dressed was pretty good, but my only issue is that they could use better shrimp. That frozen stuff is a no-no and if you've had a really good shrimp poboy you know the shrimp have to be fresh and this was kind of a disappointment, but it was still a good poboy just not great.

Getting a roast beef and oyster poboy from Short Stop is a tradition for me whenever I visit New Orleans. It is my very first stop. I have never been disappointed. The food is always great and taste exactly the same as it always had since I was a kid. (Now 55 years old). Besides having a great sandwich is always makes me reminisce about my good old days a East Jefferson which is walking distance from the school. I want to thank Short Stop for not changing a thing to their sandwiches. When something is perfect you never ever change it. Thanks again for your great poboys.

Edit after owner response: thanks for your reply. Next time I'm in kenner, I'll give the roast beef another chance!

All these 5 star reviews are sus. Or perhaps they havent been to the city or other local places. The food is just decent. It MUST have been better in the past as it seems to be a kenner staple, but I don't understand it.

I've been here twice. On the first visit, I got a shrimp po boy and was kinda surprised on the shrimp quality as they had the black poop chute in them so that's kinda gross. The portion was large, but I suppose I prefer fresh, deveined shrimp. These seemed like cheaper imported frozen shrimp.

The second visit we tried the roast beef poboy. While it was "alright" or good at best, I don't understand how the parking lot is packed every day as the roast beef was kinda bland. I ordered online and clicked "add jalepeno" to spice it up . I guess I should have checked my order bc of course there wasn't any jalapeños so that was kinda disappointing, so check your orders! In addition, the 2nd visit really highlighted the poor customer service that day.

The woman at the takeout area/register literally didn't say a word. Instead, she told her helper boy to grab my take out order. Zero "thanks" or "have a nice day." The kid was nice but the older lady was just silent as she kinda shrugged off my order. IT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE so speaking is actually required. On the plus side, the atmosphere is accommodating with a seated area, restrooms, etc. While the lines are long and the parking lot is packed, our order came quickly so that's a plus. I probably would choose somewhere...

Updated 10/07/20: The owner is ignoring me and refuses to make right what his staff did. Don't ever shop here. There are plenty of other po-boy places in town.

Update 07/22/20: Company said they would contact me and compensate me and they are ignoring my emails now. They have no desire to reconcile this experience.

Worst experience I have ever had. An older white lady employee with short brown hair and glasses started yelling at my father and myself from across the dinning room. We received our food and drinks and we sat down and were debating on eating at the restaurant. The lady comes from behind the register and yells across the dinning room at us and asked if we were eating there or not. We were confused and my dad stated that he might and she screamed that she demanded to see us take a bite out of the sandwich. We were highly embarrassed because she made such a scene and all the other dinners were looking at us. It got to the point where I was about to demand a refund but my father got up and left before he caused a scene. This place is terrible and they clearly have a Karen hired and they are not worth it.

The employee was rude and very unprofessional. The owners of this company do not deserve your business and I would look at other places. They don't even return calls...
