Edit after owner response: thanks for your reply. Next time I'm in kenner, I'll give the roast beef another chance!
All these 5 star reviews are sus. Or perhaps they havent been to the city or other local places. The food is just decent. It MUST have been better in the past as it seems to be a kenner staple, but I don't understand it.
I've been here twice. On the first visit, I got a shrimp po boy and was kinda surprised on the shrimp quality as they had the black poop chute in them so that's kinda gross. The portion was large, but I suppose I prefer fresh, deveined shrimp. These seemed like cheaper imported frozen shrimp.
The second visit we tried the roast beef poboy. While it was "alright" or good at best, I don't understand how the parking lot is packed every day as the roast beef was kinda bland. I ordered online and clicked "add jalepeno" to spice it up . I guess I should have checked my order bc of course there wasn't any jalapeños so that was kinda disappointing, so check your orders! In addition, the 2nd visit really highlighted the poor customer service that day.
The woman at the takeout area/register literally didn't say a word. Instead, she told her helper boy to grab my take out order. Zero "thanks" or "have a nice day." The kid was nice but the older lady was just silent as she kinda shrugged off my order. IT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE so speaking is actually required. On the plus side, the atmosphere is accommodating with a seated area, restrooms, etc. While the lines are long and the parking lot is packed, our order came quickly so that's a plus. I probably would choose somewhere else next time
Updated 10/07/20: The owner is ignoring me and refuses to make right what his staff did. Don't ever shop here. There are plenty of other po-boy places in town.
Update 07/22/20: Company said they would contact me and compensate me and they are ignoring my emails now. They have no desire to reconcile this experience.
Worst experience I have ever had. An older white lady employee with short brown hair and glasses started yelling at my father and myself from across the dinning room. We received our food and drinks and we sat down and were debating on eating at the restaurant. The lady comes from behind the register and yells across the dinning room at us and asked if we were eating there or not. We were confused and my dad stated that he might and she screamed that she demanded to see us take a bite out of the sandwich. We were highly embarrassed because she made such a scene and all the other dinners were looking at us. It got to the point where I was about to demand a refund but my father got up and left before he caused a scene. This place is terrible and they clearly have a Karen hired and they are not worth it.
The employee was rude and very unprofessional. The owners of this company do not deserve your business and I would look at other places. They don't even return calls for complaints.
My boyfriend and I came 12/1, it was raining and cold. It was our first time. The service was AMAZING. All were very friendly and courteous. We ordered shrimp and oyster po-boys. Everything was so fresh. The fried oysters were cooked to perfection. I took my cousin there the next day. Great service again and the kind lady behind the counter recognized me. "Hey, it must have been good she said I see you're back!!" The fried oysters are simply awesome. We were disappointed because on my second visit the king oyster po-boy was very skimpy..still tasted great but each side only had four little oysters neatly put in place on the french bread. We are born and raised in New Orleans and are used to the overstuffed sandwiches. It didn't have to be overstuffed but my first experience was way better as the oysters were plentiful. This time they were staged on the sandwich..neatly in a row 4 on each side with all of that "KING" bread. I spoke so highly of my first experience that my cousin was extremely disappointed even though the food was still good there should have been more oysters on the sandwich. We will continue to support and will try the King Oyster again. Prayerfully we can enjoy a better experience.
