Cattleman's Roadhouse — Restaurant in Louisville

I ordered the grilled pork chops with mashed potatoes and white gravy, a salad bar, and a side bowl of white gravy for dipping the pork chop bites. I told the server Melissa to give me time to eat my salad before putting in the order for the pork chops, but I had finished a third of my salad when the pork chops and mashed potatoes (without the gravy) were delivered. The guy who delivered them may have been a manager and I told him what I had told the server about waiting until I finished my salad before putting in the order for the chops . He said, “Oh, I’m so sorry” and walked off. The net effect of this was that by the time I finished eating my salad, which was very good, the pork chops and mashed potatoes were cold. The server came by and asked how everything was and noticed no gravy was on the potatoes. She brought me a side bowl of hot gravy, which made eating the potatoes more palatable. However, the cold pork chops had way too much pepper on them. I ate half of one and quit because the inside of my mouth was burning. The server came by and asked how everything was and I told her the chops were over peppered and cold, like the potatoes, because they had been delivered while while I was still eating my salad. I asked her if she had not heard me say to give me time to eat my salad before putting in the order for the chops and she dodged the question and tried to blame me for the error, saying “maybe you should have said that you would let me know when you were ready for the rest of the order to be put in.” That pissed me off. She had passed by my table maybe a dozen times and could have easily determined with a turn of her head the progress I was making eating my salad. Instead she tries to put the blame on me. Very weak. I just asked for the check, left a chop and a half uneaten, left money on the table for the check and a tip and left. I moved to Louisville three and a half years ago and would go to Cattleman’s Roadhouse every two three weeks. After this experience, I will...

Update: Absolutely delicious 10 oz sirloin steak tonight! It was so good I had it devoured before thinking to take a picture. The baked potato was perfectly baked. But all I have to show for the delicious dinner is a picture of sample salad plate filled from items on terrific salad bar. Sorry 'bout that.

I tried the pot roast tonight. I won't be getting it again. Maybe it's me, but I think pot roast should come with beef roast, potatoes, carrots, celery and onions. The pot roast I had a Cattleman's Roadhouse tonight had chuck roast, carrots and gravy. And I wasn't crazy about the taste of the gravy. I think they should name it chuck roast and carrots. Or maybe my mother just fixed a very delicious pot roast and compared to hers this was extremely inferior! On the upside, the salad bar was delicious as usual, and staff do a wonderful job keeping it replenished and appealing to the eye!

Previous review .... They offer a wonderful salad bar with a variety of fresh tasty options, including beets, radishes, a delicious potato salad, fruits, varieties of lettuce, cottage cheese, many salad dressings, and on and on. I go there primarily for the salad bar! They offer daily specials. My favorite special for $12.99 is the Cattleman’s gold certified aged top sirloin, grilled to my liking, with choice of side and their ultimate salad bar. The delicious dinner roll is complemented by a wonderful sweet cinnamon butter. Yum!  People have different preferences for taste of steak. Just left the restaurant, unfortunately other than our time, dealing with the host upon entering the restaurant our service was despicable, the host who sat us which I unfortunately can’t remember her name but she did have some stylish blue hair and was amazing! our server on the other hand need retrained, retaught and supervised! She took it upon herself to wait almost 15 minutes before placing the order by coming back to table and stating “gave you time with finish your salads so I just placed your order” mind you only a quarter of our party had the salad bar so first off with this being a lunch time ordeal most people have and hour some even only 30 minutes to order and eat! Furthermore after 4 requests we final got refills an hour and 20 meal only one round of refills! If you want to visit don’t sit in a gentry’s section she more worried about “friends” or as she referred to the person “momma” and other regulars. Never once was asked if we wanted any condiments, more rolls, let alone refills, absolutely nothing! I’m not being a jerk here I served table for years across the board our service was deployable! After showing a slight amount of disgust she proceeded to go back to the table she spent most of her time with and proceeded to talk about “rude” tables making a mockery of our simple requests for decent service!!
