It's always a good sign when you go somewhere new and order the daily special and they are sold out before 5pm. It was absolutely a sign of the delightful food in store for us at our visit to Eden & Kissi. At first you try the curry chicken and you think to yourself, "self, that is some damn fine chicken!" It's so tender it practically falls apart when you fork it and the spices in the sauce do wonderful things to your taste buds. But then you take your first bite of your jerk wings and you realize that you have, for the first time in your life, experienced chicken as it is meant to exist as a food in this world. And as you devour your (too few - no matter how many you ordered it's going to be too few) remaining wings you start to feel a little sorry for the curry chicken, delectable as it is, that it has to coexist with these wings. The sides we tried, black beans, rice and beans, yellow rice, cabbage, and plantains, were also all absolute treats (although the rice and beans were more flavorful - we think star anise? than my wife prefers). Our favorites were the cabbage and the plantains. And don't forget to try the sauces - YUM! Wherever you live in Louisville, it is worth the drive to come to Eden & Kissi to get their delicious food. We live 3 hours away and are already trying to come up with reasons for going back to Louisville to get more of those wings (and everything else)! We had the love platter and an extra side of black beans. (I've been raving about the food, but the staff is at least as nice as...
Read moreAbsolutely the best jerk I've had anywhere! I didn't think I'd find fresh pompano outside of Florida but they have it here and it's delectable! The crispy skin was a treat and the fish was so buttery and juicy! The greens are an explosion of flavor and I didn't know honestly cabbage could taste that good.
You can tell that pride and love are put into every bite. The jerk chicken is smoked low and slow and they adjust the amount of spice heat to your liking. It has the perfect "smoke ring" IYKYK. The flavor are incredible and the chicken is juicy and flavorful. It has to be marinated to have that much flavor. The wings are the best we've had yet.
They also have homemade drinks and sauces. I can't get enough of the sweet jerk. It's a terrifically balance discord without the scorching heat. To get that bite just add a touch of the habanero hot sauce. The spicy ginger juice is out of this world and the hibiscus beverage is so refreshing!
It's a wonderful family run business and they treat you kindly when you walk in the door. You feel really welcome here.
I can't wait to try the curry goat. It sold out early, so I'm going to make sure to get there earlier next week. The greens sold out too and I can tell you why, they're so rich and flavorful they keep you wanting more even when you're already full! This is one of my favorite places to eat.
Give it a try! You...
Read moreWent for the first time today and cannot be happier with our experience. The staff is incredible and there was not a single thing we ordered we would ever say was bad.
Plantains by themselves were our least favorite. Mixed into that pita though, it was a game changer.
The cabbage with pico side was a curve ball that we all fell in love with it. The Pita was the best pita I've had in my life. The 1/4 chicken and the wings were both cooked perfectly but the sauce put them over the top. They give you 3 sauces and the bbq and the super spicy were both delicious.
The black beans were probably the best I've had, but I also haven't had a huge selection as I just don't find them good enough to eat more than 2 spoon fulls of unless they are in a burrito.
The rice was really good, and I mean really good. The chicken curry was fine, but I think mixing it with the rice helped it a lot as that rice was just so good.
Collard greens were 11/10. Best I've ever had.
Also, I was suggested to try the garlic bread, which is not on the menu btw, and it was also really good.
All in all 10/10. One of the best...
