El Molcajete ky Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Louisville

My husband &I was getting tires from across the street we started to smell the best smells coming from here! As we went inside I stood there not knowing if I waited to be seated or seat myself? I ask the lady behind the counter as to what I do she motioned for me to just go around the corner never uttering a word confused but as once again the smell of good food is my purpose so I sit down a young man brings chips I tell him my husband is coming can we get 2 sweet teas"" he leaves for just a few seconds & returns to say they don't have tea so I ask for 2 Pepsi as I wait 2 gentlemen sit at the table next to mine as they sit another sever brings them a beautiful qpqlate of nachos (mabe they new them idk) as I sat there waiting on my drinks or at least a menu the sever gets there drink oder brings it back and takes there food order.while I sit there still waiting they are now eating and my husband comes in he says "did you get me a drink " I replied yes but they haven't brought them or a menu my husband then says give it another couple min we did but they never returned so as I see the other tables being sever and some with more than one server we decided to leave as I walked to the door and thanked them for the services we never received she smiled also and waived goodbye! As we went to leave the nicest young man approached us saying how sorry he was even tho he didn't work there he new the owners and there not them kind of people to just leave guest waiting he ask us to return instead so they could make it write if it would have been the server or someone that worked there and not there dedicated guest we would have! But as I would have loved to try the food with the amazing smell we couldn't 😭...

absolutely love this place. the food is always so flavorful and have tried many of the dishes from various meats/seafood in tacos and on sopes and gorditas, to the chile relleno and the goat dish, the cheese dip and the guac, the rice. the only thing i dislike is the salsa but my husband likes it. prices are sooo great! and i love the smell of the smoking bbq whenever we pull into the parking lot! if you want authentic flavorful very fairly priced tacos COME HERE even when the tacos aren't made deluxe (to include cheese, lettuce, and sour cream) they...

I used to live in Arizona and Southern California and could get great... legit... Mexican food just about anywhere. Not any of this green chile business from New Mexico or Tex mex... but real good Mexican food. I moved to Denver and most places were horrible. Now I moved to Louisville and found El Molcajete....
